Would it be at all possible or feasible to have some indication of whether or not our post has gotten a reply to it that we can see when we view our own mbtu?

It seems like the click of the reply button on our post (whether it's a top post or a post down a thread) could cause a little number to come up or to change.

That would be very helpful to me. If someone goes to the trouble to respond to my posts, I like to give them the thanks they deserve by responding back.

they really really really need to bring back that feature. i understand they've given us email alerts, which are great for particularly important discussions, but they're inconvenient to use for keeping up with several discussions at once.
Agreed.

E-mail alerts are a particularly insufficient substitute for those posting from somewhere that e-mail access is blocked. Besides, that's just not a good way to keep track of replies, since it'll quickly clutter an in-box if you have a lot of discussions going. It's too bad, too, since mostly this has been greatly improved. But if they add 20 great new features and take away the one great old feature I used the most, I'd still rather they go back to the old system. Bring back the MBTU counter!

Keeping track of replies was so much easier with the old MBTU method.

With just a quick glance, no problem to read and respond....now it is more like a chore of 'inconvenience' to check for replies.

This new method is tiresome and time consuming. If they would fix this MBTU feature, most of us would really appreciate it...!

If you look at the department forum index page (for instance, click "Fix the Fray" from the Fray homepage or the gray breadcrumbs area) you'll see the list of topics, and each one has a number of replies in the right column. It's similar to the old system.

Pat,

That only tells us that someone posted something somewhere in that fray, not that a reply has been made to our posts. What we're saying here is that we would like to

1. Click on our usernames

2. See our list of posts

3. See a number next to the post title that indicates how many responses that post received. No number means no replies.

Exactly.......and thanks for the support. I used my mbtu to see who I needed to respond to. Now I have nothing.

I just don't have the time to go into every one of my posts each time I come here to see if someone has responded.

It doesn't seem like it would be too difficult to put a counter into the existing mbtu.

That was one of the best features on the Old Fray format.
Hopefully they will be able to restore having a # next to our mbtu subject line.

I used it a lot Galatea

and it is the one thing I would like to have back.

I used it a lot too, Jen

After logging on it was one of the first things I did.
I liked to finish a conversation before getting into a new one.
Usually...not always :-)

It was easy to see you replied to me because you put my name in the subject line too. I had the exact thought to start doing that in threads that begin to get lengthy, because this format is not as thread friendly as the old fray. So far I like the Flat view better than the Threaded view because it's all visible, but easy to get lost in who's replying to who.

Galatea, I either put the name
by Jen01

in the subject line (as the thread gets longer) or quote the post I am responding to, or both. Otherwise things can get very confusing.

I use the flat option, but go to the threaded when I think I have been responded to but am not sure. That is not foolproof, of course, because unless someone somewhere has changed the subject line.........everything looks the same on the threads (unless you go to a great deal of trouble and click on each post).

Numbers in the mbtu would greatly help, because I, like you, try to finish conversations and not just let people hang.

This post was allowed ot hang here a lot longer than it would have had there been numbers.
