Chris Wilson . . . EA for Slate . . . hmm
by trrenaud
At first I thought that this was a silly article about something insignificant. But then I read the byline: Chris Wilson, Editorial Assistant for Slate in D.C. And then I wondered, perhaps it's not so insignificant after all! My guess is that Mr. Wilson has been burned at least once -- maybe twice -- by Word's spellcheck feature in a note to superiors, a random proofreading or copyediting assignment, or a throwaway copywriting job. Slate (or whoever) might have given him a stern and embarrassing warning about the gaffe, and in his attempt at self-justification, he's pinned all the blame on the limitations of Microsoft's dictionary. But then, that's only speculation. This article is still a profoundly silly puff piece.

Cute theory, but incorrect.
