chilled red wines
by beckybrown
I have a new favorite red that I have been serving chilled all summer. Here in Ohio, we are experiencing record high temps and I have not been able to switch to my standard summer chardonnay or sauv blanc, mostly because of this newer red I love so dearly. Back in March I tried chilling it and was amazed how the overall flavor popped. It is Mark Davidson Shiraz and it retails for about $10 and is absolutely wonderful chilled. I buy a bottle and throw it in the freezer for about 10 minutes and it's the perfect temp for a nice summer evening!

I think such a cheap shiraz (do not chill a Cote Rotie!), is a perfect candidate for chilling. It is the sort of robust and unrefined wine that benefits from toning down.

Good show! And good drinking!
