Timothy Noah makes reference to Silvio
"Conte"
being Steven Van Zandt's character's name; however, I am quite certain his surname is in fact, "Dante" --- as in the author of
The Inferno
.

Agreed. Noah blew sunshine up Brian Williams' skirt last week by saying how great Williams' powers of observation were when Williams knew Tony's jacket was camel hair and who the designer/maker was. Yet Noah reveals that he actually knew said designers FIRST NAME! How much is SLATE paying this baffoon?

Silvio Conte was a congressman from Massachusetts in the Tip O'Neill era, I think. Did Noah live in Mass. in the 1980s?
