Mickey Mouse union busting articles
by cybyoung9

You've been union busting and wage ranting since pre-Katrina...the last time I paid attention to your rant you were predicting that prevailing wages would hurt the post Katrina rebuilding effort...nice try!

BAD MANAGEMENT at FEMA hurt the post-Katrina rebuilding effort...POLITICS hurt the post-Katrina effort....lack of any DISASTER PLANNING hurt the post Katina rebuilding effort...rants against prevailing wages are just another wing-nut excuse for turning dollars into dividends

If you want to break the UAW just come out and say so: don't hide behind your textbooks...

Meanwhile, I'll always remember my mom picketing and striking TWICE to extra a NICKLE from local management of an electrical sweat shop...she was UAW...

If you are against the craft trades be my guest...my old man was a steamfitter who practiced his trade honestly and with pride: he got his health benefits and he got his modest pension, which was willed to my sister and I...my share helped send my kids to COLLEGE with CA$H payments...you should watch some of the "open shop" hacks install heating systems today...sloppy and irresponsible...

Yuppies such as yourself forget who ditched child labor, who fought for a 40 hour work week, who made weekends a cherished commodity, who fought for health bennies, who insisted on COLLECTIVE bargaining with management, and who took their knocks on the steet when all this was being established...it's easy to BLOG from the comfort of a living room and belittle unions...but you and all others in this Nation stand on the shoulders of the American union movement.

Your union busting mentality is absolutely sickening! There are plenty of recently unemployed who wouldn't mind a union fighting for their rights...just look at Republic Window and Door in Chicago. Their CEO violates the law on advance notice and is meanwhile reorganizing his company to move to Iowa...

Stick to critiquing automobiles...

I remember my Mom picketing as a public school teacher. And I remember her cross the picket line when she concluded the union was asking for too much. And I remember the phone calls threatening her kids and the nails in our driveway.

I agree that unions did a world of good. But notice how all of your examples are from the past. It was because of their achievements that the became less necessary. The workplace improved vastly because of them, but they never changed. They never recalibrated. They never called off the dogs. And they paid the price.
