No wonder Republicans oppose funding higher education!!

All education does is produce more Democratic voters!! The Republicans have sensed (rightly) that if they want to preserve their party, people are going to have to get a lot dumber.

Education, which is to say empowered intelligence, is indeed the enemy of the Republican Party.

This, not surprisingly, is precisely analogous to the fact that prosperity, good health and security are detrimental to the spread of all religions.

Ignorance and human misery are the guano that fertilizes the Republican Party and the Religious Right. Is it any wonder that most Evangelicals are die-hard Republicans?

"Is it any wonder that most Evangelicals are die-hard Republicans?"

Are all Republicans "evangelicals?"

i am with annien coulter on this one. the godless lib/dems treat government as their religion and they are every bit as evangelical about it as pat robertson or jerry fallwell.

look at that fat assed albert arnold gore junior and his church of the boiling planet. talk about ignorant.

No wonder Republicans oppose funding higher education!!

we think the federal government should get out of the business of education. it should be done on as local of a level as possible. we see what you liberals have done to the public schools in this country and we don't like it one bit.

you don't even like what you have done as you are always bitching about them too.

got it?

That's the same reason they oppose abortion. They need a steady supply of uneducated low income voters. Overturning R v. Wade would do the trick in one generation.

Can you read? No, not all Republicans are not evangelicals. Nobody said they were.

Just because someone argues that all cows are mammals does not allow you to claim he said that all mammals are cows.

You must be one of the publicans mentioned in the article.

Ichang, the quote at the top of your post referred to higher education. Perhaps for you, public school is higher education.

The business of education is already done on the local level. Go to a high school in Beverly Hills and then go to a high school on the west side of Chicago and you will notice the extreme local feel of each location.

if this is supposed to be some kind of blanket indictment of the inequities in education funding, save your bullshit. most big city school districts spend more per pupil for education than most other areas.

for example, do some research and look at the per pupil costs in places like washington DC, atlanta, philly and even chicago. you will find that they are much higher than in iowa for example.

the corrupt, top heavy, teachers unions are pissing the money away as well as doing a piss poor job of education kids.

It's a blanket statement of the inequities of education opportunity. Whats its causes are I will leave to the experts.

I wonder what the unions are pissing away the money on? I did'nt think teachers made that much.

the administrators eat up the funds. school districts are top heavy with management.

"Student poverty is also roughly correlated with statewide per-pupil expenditure. In general, the larger the percentage of poor students in the state, the less a state spends on education. While per-pupil expenditure is also related to fiscal effort, the amount of taxable wealth in a state (i.e. fiscal capacity) plays a substantial role in per pupil spending. More students in poverty indicates less aggregate family income available for tax contributions, which usually translates into a lower statewide per-pupil expenditure level. The five states with the lowest percentage of poor students spend an average of $9,972 per pupil, while the five states with the highest percentage of poor students spend less than half that amount—only $6,887 per pupil." <link>
