The liberator is greeted!
by anticorp
The New York Times and other papers missed the point entirely. In their haste to get coverage around the Arab world seeking reaction to the shoeing of Bush, they forgot to ask ordinary Americans what they thought of it. As an ordinary non-Arab American, I think the "shoeing" was a hilarious capper to yet another failed Bush policy plank. Victory tour, indeed. LOL. Bush has become the Webster's illustration for the word "incompetence". Jan 20th cannot come soon enough. It's been a helluva a long 8 years. It defies reason that anyone could have voted to re-elect this stooge, but at least he'll be out of the White House soon.

I hear he has plans to become king of Texas. Something about secession by 2012. Seems there will be a disaster in Houston blamed on left winged terrorists connected to Obama?
That's the worst part about it

I live in TX. At least he's going to Dallas, not Houston. Houston is already screwed up with one Bush in residence, God knows we don't need the idiot son-of-a-Bush.
Wasn't it Bush that said they would greet us with flowers?
by Time4CommonSense

Wasn't it Bush and the Republicans that said the Iraqi's would greet us with flowers and as liberators over there? Well those sure didn't look like flowers that were being flung at him!

The other thing this video also showed me was that Security around the President was "asleep at the wheel" as well. This guy got way to close and he could have just as well been throwing knives or something far more damaging at the President..

Yeah, this guy, he represents the "real" feelings of the Iraqi people as well as all of you "ordinary Americans", is that right? Because, as we ALL know, if one person reacts in a negative manner toward a leader, that means that is how almost everyone "really feels, huh?

So when those two crack-pots were arrested for planning to off obama, that meant all the people, the "ordinary Americans", they ALL "really" felt the same, right?

Doesn't seem logical to ME, but it is your "logic", so who am I to question it?

I hope security is better for Obama.

Why do you think they were sleeping?

Hmmm. I guess Bush's approval rating must have suddenly jumped above it's record low and that killing and shoeing are equal. THAT'S your "logic", if you want to call it that, LOL.

bush is a complete failure. he has done nothing for the USA. he turned his back on this country and spent $ 20 Billion a month in Iraq. This money should have been spent in the USA and our problems would be different. he should go down as the worst president in history. Sorry the shoes missed him. He should live in Iraq where he belongs. Good riddance to this moron. He should NOT get a pension for what he didn't do to help the USA. cheney should go over there to live also. he's no good. Or-send them both to Guantanomo.
Reductio ad Absurdum
by Trebuchet

Is the only argument UPNYA really cares to posit.

Judging by the popularity of the shoe thrower in Iraq today, and seeing how he will probably be released and treated like a hero, I would think that is indicative of the basic flaw in UPNYA's logic in this case.

UPNYA2 is a troll. All the posts from him/her look the same: inflammatory and filled with exreme examples. Don't take the bait.

Everyone in the room had been frisked. So, there wasn't much chance of someone pulling a gun or knife. Looked like the first to react were Iraqi journalists who stepped in between. Then the door behind Bush flew open and security sprang into action.

More interesting was Bush's verbal reactions afterwards. He seemed to think that the shoes were flung because of this or that cause unrelated to his disastrous invasion of Iraq.

yes he is hero to people who still think its OK to cut the head off your daughter because she wore makeup..yep, some fine people...

I don't care how you feel about George W. Bush (and I am certainly not a fan), but some miscreant journalist just tried to assault your president. What the hell kind of American would find that funny, much less cheer the bastard on?

I wonder what would have happened to that guy had he tried that shit with Saddam Hussei?

I agree, Raddy.

I can't stand Bush, voted against him twice, and will be happy to see the back of him. And yet, one does NOT throw objects at the President... or any government official... or person, for that matter. Call me Old School.

No matter what a President of the United States does, *millions* of people will hate him or her for it. There is no way around that - it goes with the territory of making hard decisions that affect billions of people's lives. I would no more want something thrown at Bush than I would want something thrown at Obama.

It was an act of pure hooliganism.
