Seriously, should we pull the plug on Iraq?
by Nightengale2

I'm really curious as to what people's reasoning or rationale is for staying or leaving and why they believe they are right about it.

But, curious how many want to stay or leave, even if you don't want to go into detail as to why.

Should we stay or go?

Seriously, get the f&$k out!

We've accomplished all our stated goals, and have no more need to stay. Anything we need to do later can be done other ways. A continued occupation only causes more bad feelings and more resistance. We cannot kill all who oppose us...eventually, that would bankrupt us, and empty Iraq.

But to a degree I agree with you, trying turn Iraq into a Democracy probably was a bridge too far, but its too late now to turn back.

The sooner the better.

Mr. Bush's attempt at Imperialism has proved beyond doubt that his expedition has become a miserable failure.

Phased withdrawal ...

Most rational, most effective and efficient way to go.

Have you posted about KROVE the Krook yet? Amazing what those guilty Pugnicans will do, to avoid simply testifying before the Congress, eh?

Thx for your reply and thx for the others too

It's a messy conundrum, alright.

Curious though that although 67%, or more ,of the country say they want out of Iraq, it seems that really, still, we are a country that is close to a 50-50 split, on leaving.

Even myself, as a democrat, worry that now that we are there,(as Paul noted), we need a good plan to make sure we shore up any possible stability we can, before we leave.

But in my view ,it does appear negligible that we'll be able to achieve that goal.

So one wonders ,then,why stay?

As for the Oil issue..had the Iraqis welcomed us Liberators and worked with us, we may have had a way to legitimately garner a piece of their profits from Oil.

But, as it stands now, they are just fighting against us, for control of their oil.

So, if we're going to benefit from it, it will be by outright theft, truth be told.

What would that say about us, really?

I have no definitive answers. I am just a citizen.

What troubles me, is the people who lead the Government, on any political side of the aisle seem to have no answers either.

Hi! Yeah, some over on BOTF, earlier today.

Lots of posers floating around today over there. It's like being in the land of the munchins, really.

One minute you're posting on The Constitutional Crisis , next thing ya know three Hairy half scalped munchkins peek up and squeek all about the Fray!

Kind of funny, really.

But as for Rove...oh, happy day~~~

;)

It's time to bring all the troops home.
by wmou

It should be phased and unnannounced. After taking out Saddam we had a moral duty to stay and help the people build a new government.

We should also withdraw all of our troops stationed around the world on foreign soil and bring the back to the US.

Richardson is the only dem candidate promising to withdraw all the troops from Iraq.

yes, pull the plug on Iraq

they will be better off as soon as we leave. they'll get it together in the way they want it.

It has been obvious for quite some time (years) that real progress is not being made in Iraq. We should leave as quickly as we can and still have it somewhat orderly. The battle of Fallujah was the "Tet" of this war. Everything after that has been for a lost cause -- in vein, if you will. A bloodbath will occur when we leave so staying only drags that out. Staying is a lose-lose proposition.

Yes, we should "pull the plug". The problem is that the "cord" is hot, so we can't touch it or we get electrocuted. I think we are stuck in there for a long time to come.
Does That Mean

We give this country back to the Indians? Same "logic".
