Even as a distant observer, I know India has been a friend of America's for a long time and that we've more or less had to pay for Pakistan's cooperation. There are a lot of Islamic fundamentalist supporters there.
Blaming America is easy. Even Americans do it. (yawn)
Finding solutions is more challenging as a rule, but come on, being against terrorists is a no-brainer.
Where's the problem here? Killers force you to kill them to stop their killing. Does anyone think that the attacks in India were okay? The best thing for our side in the war against terror is the behavior of the terrorists themselves.
Is there anyone left they haven't angered yet?
Point: If you want to get me on your side, don't slap me to get my attention. If you do, nothing you say is going to be able to erase that.
Duhh.
On the other hand...
Nice piece Mr. Hitchens. I may not always agree with you, but your writing is always a relief in it's thoroughness.
How did the "slap" work for you, by the way. Kicking dirt at the God Squad was certainly "Jackson-ish". Did it work? How were the sales on that book?
Your boldness amused many of us quietly watching from the sidelines. As a rule, I do okay with the God Squad, but know that getting them "riled up" has a wild cat quality to it.
