Remember when liberals were relieved that Ashcroft split?
by DeaH

Many liberals (and progressives and centrists, too) thought there couldn't be anything worse than having John Ashcroft as Attorney General. Now, those same people look back on the Ashcroft AG days as the halcyon period in Bush's Justice Department.

Just because Rove is leaving, do not think that there will be a new tone. No one knows who his replacement is.

I don't suspect that it will matter much who replaces Rove. This Republican Administration has been in its "death throes" for the past few years.

And yet, even with a Democratic Congress, this administration keeps getting their way with policy.
That's just begging for a Rumsfeldian remark about the exact duration of a "throe."

Don't you think?

I look at our Country as a large ship. After being misdirected by the current Administration for the past six years, it will take a little bit of time to get our Country back on the correct course. Sudden changes in course direction aren't always immediately seen but I am optimistic that, given time, it will happen.

But I don't think that time is now...

Bush's approval rating are low, but not as low as Congress's ratings. Bush is still at the helm, and I think, if history is anything to go on, we will get another Rove, but more so.

Many were concerned with John Ashcroft's Dominionist Christian bent. What they didn't understand was that the man had integrity. Anyone with that defect has since been purged from this administration.
So, in the case of Rove's replacement?

Are they going to have to go under the barrel?
