As an aside, regular readers will be pleased to note that irvingchang will receive a pardon for being criminally cretinous. This should be a relief for those who want their morning laugh regularly delivered to their computer. Those prison lines are notoriously slow and unreliable.

Essentially the logic that Cheney, Gonzalez, Yoo and others have put forth WRT the POTUS being able to do whatever the POTUS feels like is tied back to the power of the Pardon. No where in the text of that power is a limitation against SELF-PARDON. Thus - the arguement goes - since a POTUS can self-pardon, then there is nothing that the POTUS can be held criminally accountable for. POTUS can ONLY be impeached.

Before you go wishing for Bush's head, take a look at Pakistan's supposed democracy and how well succession works there.

The other point of course is that the administration was democratically elected. As long as they operated in good faith, what exactly could be criminal about that? Perhaps misguided, but certainly not criminal.

My prediction is they will take the Nixon/Ford approach one step further. Bush will pardon Cheney, and step down. Then Cheney will pardon Bush. This way the whole self-pardon issue doesn't arise.

War criminals - each and every one of them - they will ultimately be Judged by the big guy.

Wow. A rational person. The criminal accusations of Bush and Cheney, in particular, were leveled at them only to influence an unsuspecting public, to encourage failure, and gain power. That's it. You know this because every time their bluff is called, they back off.
