She wasn't really ordained.
by Bondsman

If you read the linked NYT article, it says,

“the Church has no authority whatsoever to confer priestly ordination on women.”

So regardless of what these women want to believe, they aren't priests, and their sacraments wouldn't be valid within the church. Selfishness on the part of the women, foolishness on this guy's part for taking part in it.

I love how the Catholic Church always defends this with the "it's out of our hands" argument, as if it is God's will not to have women priests, when it is all based on their own interpretation and warped logic, if you can even call it logic. They made a bizarre interpretation of a non-explicit observation of scripture, that there are no women "apostles" mentioned in the Bible. Then they make the mental leap to "No women priests." Nowhere does Jesus say this, and nowhere does it ever even explicitly say "there were no women priests (apostles?) because Jesus deemed them unworthy."

I could also argue that we should only have Israeli, formerly Jewish men as priests, because all of Jesus' apostles were Israelites. I have as much to go on as the framers of these decrees and dogma. The random rules of the Catholic church are of their own making based on their own interpretations, not God's will. It's folly and hubris to think we know what that that is, and to make harsh decrees based on our own feeble powers to figure out the meaning of something, especially rules like this one that seek to shun and exclude those who are arguably the most faithful and brave of the flock. Keep it up, Catholic Church, and see what happens to your parishoners. That's why most of your registed voters went for Obama - nobody's listening to the hierarchy anymore. These defenders of the faith are also defenders of pedophiles, rapists and molesters.

Indeed, and they better be circumcised.

Well, at least you recognize that it is THEIR decision to make and not yours.

It's their decision, but they should spare the rest of the world their BS justifications for discrimination against women. That's the issue.

That's the difference between a church and the government, the government can force you to obey, you can walk out of a church any time you like.

It's really kind of a riot that you folks are so programmed to think of anything that has different roles for different sexes as discrimination.

Yeah, and I'm free to have an opinion about their BS. So what's the deal with you?

But please, don't try to tell me that refusing just about the only employment available in the organization is something OTHER than discrimination.

Now go get yourself a uterus and make us some babies.
