I loved the Grant Park Red Dress
by PamDD
It was bold...it was risky...it was red..it looked like fireworks going off...this woman has the courage to say "this is who I am" -- she doesn't need fashion advice from anyone!

Touche'!

You are right! I LOVED the red dress too! And, I loved the way that Barack and one of the girls were dressed in black and Michelle and the other girl was dressed in red! I made a good statement!

Thank you for your praise of Michelle! It seems that most of the posters on here (probably just disgruntled McCain voters), have set to criticizing Mrs. Obama's wardrobe!

I voted for Obama, and watched his acceptance speech in a room full of other like minded people. But when she walked out on stage in that outfit, I sorta did a double take. I did not say anything, but all the ladies let out with comments like what was she thinking. They all panned the outfit.

I know almost nothing about women's fashion, but the dress was very distracting. I hope Michelle resists the attempts by some to mold her into Jackie Junior. That patrician high fashion look may have played well at the beginning of the sixties, but the country is heading into some very difficult economic times. Reading about the First Lady's wardrobe will be cold comfort for unemployed single moms, trying to put a few dollars together to buy their child a coat at the Dollar General.

I have to say, we had a big election night party and it was all Obama land..but the first thing one of my friends said was.."um..she looks like a black widow in that dress...(audible gasp from room) I, I mean a black widow spider..I mean.."

After the black widow comment there was just dead silence...but I did think that dress was a bit wierd.

Dear Traben2000, That's the future First Lady of the United States you're talking about. Get over your rage at losing the election. The world is celebrating out new brilliant young president and his equally brilliant, radiant wife.

yes the dress really did stand out as bad. It just did not fit her properly.

The truth is, even people who do not care much for clothe, will notice someone who really stands out in a room..whether for being dressed really well or really badly.
