Remove the 10 commandments. Case closed.
by progressivebulldog

Does any park really need the 10 commandments? I don't think so. Constitutionally speaking if a monument of the ten commandments is allowed in a public park then any other religious group should have the right to display their beliefs too. This could lead to a ton of confilcting monuments espousing every whacky religious belief out there.

The simple solution? Remove the 10 commandments.

Yeah- I'm amazed the 9 wise old men could figure something so simple and straight forward out. Just get all the religious mumble jumble off public property.

The pretense
by degsme
That's because the conservatives run under the pretense of freedom from a state established religion when fundamentally Roberts, ScAlito, Thomas and Kennedy all BELIEVE in christianity as the state religion. But they don't want to be castigated publically for it.

And your evidence for that is what exactly?
Their own words

Their own words and behaviour say this, Alito as well, Roberts has been more circumspect as has Kennedy, but among them, not a single jew, hindu, muslim, pagan, agnostic...

I'm not arguing that all five of them are Catholic, but where exactly do you get the impression that they want to turn that into the state religion? Your links certainly don't show that.
