Simply because somebody does not agree with your world view does not a hater make. I'm the one who referred to people like you as bible thumpers and knuckle draggers. I am 68 years old and I'm considerably grown up. Everyday, people like you confirm what I observed when I was a boy. You are the nastiest, most hateful, people I have ever had the misfortune to meet. Yes, you are racists. The bible thumping churches were against civil rights, as I well remember, in the 50s and 60s. I also remember in the early 50s when you idiots equated mixed race marriages with marriage between men and dogs. Nothing changes in your nasty world. Voting for a law that prohibits same sex couples their basic civil rights is not a "simple disagreement," it's downright nasty. In the late 40s, as a young boy, I saw who the wife beaters, drunks, child molesters, and liars, were. They were all "good Christians" and some of them were the clergy. The world will be a better place when civilization is rid of you when you go to your happy place. I believe you call it heaven. Unless, of course, you are raptured up first.

Well, let me ask you this- why are people messed up? Do they do what they are, or if they are what they do?

St. Paul calls sin the mystery of iniquity, and I think human history has proven him right. The problem is not"out there" in the culture but it is in the people. This mystery of crookedness of human nature has puzzled people for so long that we now have a vertiable Army of counslers and psychologists armed with about 200 stinkin' systems trying to straigten people out. They range from- unconscience mind filled with primal urges (Freud), to a collective unconscience of our racial history (Jung) to our enviromental conditioning (B. F. Skinner) to lack of awareness of our inner good (Carl Rodgers) All that is missing is a theory about a magic bunny hidden deep in a beer cooler in gas station who is at a center of a plot to cause people to do bad things to each other.

If we are what we do, then all you need to do is to train people to act differently, and they will change themselves. But if we do what we are, then we do bad because we are bad, and we cannot do good until we become good. Just as a secular person can do many good works and still not be righteous in heart, no matter how many 'bad' things a born again person commits can make them unrighteous

The Bible clearly teaches that we do what we are, that sin comes from our hearts the center of who we are. To rightly diagnose any human conduct, we must overcome our propensity to deal with cultural effects(lying, theft, gay whatever) and instead focus on the cause ( the sin in our hearts)

Firstly, marriage is not a basic right. Gays can marry a straight person if they want, but they choose not to. They want an ADDITIONAL right to be able to marry someone of the same sex. They are trying to push their abnormality on society to make it seem normal.

I said in this forum that I am a "closet Christian" and a "recovering Catholic". I am one of those bad persons who despise being prosthelitized to, rarely go to church but pray all the time silently, cuss when I'm angry, tell dirty jokes, smoke when I'm stressed, etc. But I will always bring you a pain pill with pleasure when you are in pain, people make fun of me giving any beggars I see money, I despise brutality, and that is why I despise the hate and brutality I see dished out to gays.

There was a devout Baptist couple I took care of in a nursing home once. They made a huge show of being Christian -praying in the dining room, watching the televangelists, listening to the music. However, we all laughed at them behind their back because of the devoutness, they put themselves in a superior "Church lady" position that we see so much of from these kind of people. They gossiped, judged, always wanted to be first for everything and demanded a lot of our time just pleasing them. In fact, the man mildly assaulted me when I heard them gossiping about me in the dining room and I took him aside and asked him to stop!

One night I was working on the night shift and an aid came in to me and asked if I had pissed that old Baptist man off?. I replied no, why? She laughed and asked me to come with her. We stood at "Mr Holy's" room and cracked up at him sleeping saying so horribly, like satan possessed, "YOU C^&*S*(*^$RS!!!". So, that is what is underneath all that piety, isn't it? I prefer to stay closet, do my cussing during the day when I'm awake. To me, these people just want to feel superior to others, not equal. I can't stand them. Mike Huckabee is one of them- so sweet and pious but underneath hiding this seething hatred...you could see that when he "made a joke tee hee haa haa about Obama being assasinated! Bush too.

Any shrink or cop will tell you the most dangerous kind of person in the world is a religious zealot. They can use their God and their relationsip to him to justify murder, rape, etc. We have seen that all throughout history. Brutality in the name of Jesus. I'll stay in the closet and avoid them..go with the real Christians that act on what Jesus told us, "Love your brother as yourself"

You might very well be holier than them, The righteousness of God is always grace through faith, aka never works based. But the Bible says especially to honor those in' "the household of faith" and it sounds like you were failing in there, self righteous as those people were.

Also, you won't be on there corner on the Day of Judgement. Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

You know in your heart those people were not following the teachings of Jesus. Lets go back to 33 AD in Palsestine. Can you imagine a gay marriage being blessed by the Lord Jesus!? Really?
