As if to confirm all that I feared about Obama and his campaign and
the misogynistic tendencies, Larry Summers is apparently at the top of
the shot list for Treasury secretary. It doesn't get much worse than
this for women. Especially women scientists.

If you don't remember, Larry Summers is former president of Harvard
who thinks that women are not cognitively capable of excelling in math
and science. The fact that this neanderthal is even being considered
is a complete and total slap in the face to all women.

i think i remember that, isn't that when he told a roomful of people that women may not have the right temperment to become great scientists and the women in the crowd went into a collective case of the vapors thus proving mr. summers point?.

Actually, he mentioned the possibility that native differences in abilities could, among other factors, explain the gender gap in the sciences. The other factors include discrimination, differing social expectations of men and women, etc.
