Obama = Dukakis

I've told you again and again kids. I've called the last SIX elections in a row. SIX. McCain will win in a landslide. Remember to forget you ever read this on November 5. It never happened- just between us. On that day, tell your friends you are shocked and outraged. Shocked! You had no idea. But.. you did. At least no one else will ever know. But you know.

I'll keep this bookmarked, thanks.

But you are exactly right comparing Obama and Dukakis. Why, I remember 1988 just like it was yesterday. Just like today, we had sitting in White House, one of the most unpopular President in modern times, presiding over a long, bitter war that had only recently shown any glimmer of hope. The nation's finances were in crisis, and fingers were pointed in the direction of one Ronald Reagan and his party. But amid the darkness, there was hope, and the nation was abuzz, as the people were about to elect the country's first Greek-American president! Boy, did he trounce Bush in the debates! And how he looked majestic riding that tank! Even Lee Atwater-conceived Willie Horton smear couldn't bring him dow....

Oh wait, Obama is *nothing* like Dukakis.

And you predicted the last six elections? Like that was hard. Granted, both 2000 and 2004 were hard, but in both cases, Bush led in the polls going into the final push. If you simply followed the polls in the final week, you could pick the President. Seriously, you picked Regan to beat Mondale? Clinton to beat Bush and Dole? Congratulations!!

bdb--

Give ol' puma some credit. Bush I v. Clinton was touch-and-go at times. It's tough to unseat a sitting president.

However, his "landslide" prediction is full of hooey. If McCain wins, it will be by sweeping the battleground states and corralling Pennsylvania...and his electoral vote tally still won't break 300 (or probably even 280). Hell, if Obama only wins the Democratic strongholds, he gets 227. Compare to McCain's 136.

I don't know what drugs you're on, but if you ever want to share them let me know. If you're wrong (and you certainly are) I assume you'll be confessing your error on Wednesday. Right?

Wow, are you one of the five remaining PUMA? I admire your tenacity. Did you happen to notice that even Geraldine Ferraro has endorsed Obama now?

I do oh so wish I could make bets with all of those claiming McCain is going to win in a landslide (like the landslide of Obama currently leading (by poll numbers) 311 electoral votes to McCain's 142).

He's not on drugs - he needs drugs but for someone that delusional, it will likely be another 30 years before they are invented.

BTW, on Nov. 5th, he'll have forgotten the election and be ranting about something else. Perhaps: "the Chinese have poisoned my dog"

I'm amazed he couldn't predict Reagan winning in 1980. Perhaps he was in diapers?

"Give ol' puma some credit. Bush I v. Clinton was touch-and-go at times. It's tough to unseat a sitting president."

I was a youg 'un in '92, so it could be selective memory, but I sort of remember an air of inevitability about that election, certainly by the last week of October/first week of November. Most historians seem to frame it that way too (Bush looking lost in debates, Clinton on Arsenio, etc).

As for the landslide prediction, I'm at a loss as to how he'd get break 300, nevermind get to 350s and 360s.

Dukakis was a Governor . Obama is a Senator. The men could not be more different. Go back to listening to Hannity and Limbaugh and quit pretending you have anything intelligent to say.

I'm willing to bet that come Nov. 5, the alias "pumapurr" will disapear entirely from the Fray, but there will be a new republican-leaning poster whose writing style will strangely resemble pumapurr's.

When you say that "I was a youg 'un in '92,"

Are you saying that you were Chinese or Korean, I can't tell because both countries gave money to Clinton's campaign and both benefited alot from his policy of giving them missle technology in thanking them for their contributions.

Congratulations, I was finally proved wrong. But I'm old enough not to mind that- it's actually more interesting than being right all the time. Shake up is good for the soul.

Obama is a much better leader than he was in February. He has improved steadily, and I will give him the benefit of the doubt in his administration. Perhaps he will become a great president. Who knows?

I am sincerely happy for all who rooted for him. The day is yours!

Pumapurr,

Thank you for coming back here, and thank you for the positive thoughts. I especially appreciate your willingness to give President Obama the benefit of the doubt, and I hope the entire country can finally work together to solve the many problems that we face.
