A government lead by an ego that knows no bounds

will impose its will without regards to the will of the people. It will believe that it always knows what is best for the greater good of the whole and will use its overwhelming power to coerce cooperation.

As a business owner I have seen the effects of an overweening government leadership on business and it is very destructive. I am personally planning to save as much money as possible in the future rather than spend in order to have available the cash I will need to pay taxes. If my situation is extrapolated to other businesses across the country I believe we will see much more unemployment in the coming years. This is the practical outcome of what is meant to help lower income working people. the fact is that 600$ per year will do nothing to help these people. 600$ a month in a govenment check will do nothing to help. What working people need is not hope for a goernment check but hope that they will get a good job or even a better job. It is the hope of a hospital worker who wants to get more training to be an ARNP or a nurse anaesthesialogist because the hours are better and the money is better. It is the hope of a painter who wants to get training to be a pipe fitter because they make more money and the work is less seasonal. This is real hope.

Lawrence Eagleburger calls Obama a charlatan
by lubbesuh
last night in an interview. Why has has that not been front page news on every channel like like what happened when he said that Palin was not yet qualified to be president?

It's interesting you should say this considering you seem to feel that women should be hired for jobs simply based on their gender. Who would be doing the forcing in your scenerio? The only one would be the government.....

Lawrence Eagleburger. The fella who said Sarah Palin is woeful unprepared to be commander in chief and to make foreign policy decisions. That Lawrence Eagleburger? I'm sure lub wants to trot him out on all points, now.

It's a story because:

1) Because he's a John McCain supporter who is repeatedly brought up by the McCain campaign as someone with in depth foreign policy credentials that is in their corner.

2) A republican supporter of John McCain beating on the Democratic candidate. You are totally right, Lub, big story there. That damn media. It would be such a surprising story and all.

Actually Lub, it does appear that the will of the people is in fact speaking and McCain isn't it. So sorry for you.

Physicsgirl, when you misrepresent my views you are behaving in a dishonest way, much like the Obama campaign and the media establishment who have carried his water for the last 6 months. As anyone can see who reads my posts, I believe that Sarah Palin is highly qualified to run as VP based upon her record as Governor of Alaska.

Sorry for everyone.
Well you misrepresent
by degsme

Well first, you misrepresent the views of Obama on tax policy.

Secondly you misrepresent the economics of running a business. Clearly you never have. I have. And I've been involved in startups, as well as budgeting/investment planning in a Fortune 100 company.

And taxation rates almost NEVER are part of the discussion in making investment or hiring decisions. The two things that matter are

  1. ROI - IE how good an idea is it and how much money is it likely to make. A 10% change in tax rates isn't going to make a difference except in the most marginal (read BAD) ideas.
  2. Strategic Alignment - does it help the company grow in its market place (many companies are willing to LOSE money to expand their strategic market)

Your ignorance of how business works is hard to even begin to describe

"Well, let's see. There's -- of course -- in the great history of America rulings there have been rulings." --Sarah Palin, unable to name a Supreme Court decision she disagreed with other than Roe vs. Wade, interview with Katie Couric, CBS News, Oct. 1, 2008

"All of 'em, any of 'em that have been in front of me over all these years." --Sarah Palin, unable to name a single newspaper or magazine she reads, interview with Katie Couric, CBS News, Oct. 1, 2008

"As for that VP talk all the time, I'll tell you, I still can't answer that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the VP does every day?" --Sarah Palin, interview with CNBC's "Kudlow & Co," July 31, 2008

"[T]hey're in charge of the U.S. Senate so if they want to they can really get in there with the senators and make a lot of good policy changes that will make life better for Brandon and his family and his classroom." --Sarah Palin, getting the vice president's constitutional role wrong after being asked by a third grader what the vice president does, interview with NBC affiliate KUSA in Colorado, Oct. 21, 2008

"If [the media] convince enough voters that that is negative campaigning, for me to call Barack Obama out on his associations then I don't know what the future of our country would be in terms of First Amendment rights and our ability to ask questions without fear of attacks by the mainstream media." --Sarah Palin, getting first amendment rights backwards while claiming that criticism of her is unconstitutional, radio interview with WMAL-AM, Oct. 31, 2008

"I have not, and I think if you go back in history and if you ask that question of many vice presidents, they may have the same answer that I just gave you." --Sarah Palin, after being asked if she had never met a foreign head of state, despite the fact that every vice president in the last 32 years had met a foreign head of state prior to taking office, ABC News interview, Sept. 11, 2008

No. Sarah is uniquely one of the least qualified people to run for office, which is a tragedy for women every where. Hillary, was at least smart and competent. Palin is not.

Lubbesuh, other than being popular, what has Sarah Palin done as governor that qualifies her to be VP?
sigh...
