Mccain in NH
by althea555
As an attendee at the rally today in NH, I have to say that John Dickerson is way off the mark. His assessment that the crowd seemed more "Republican" is questionable, as an honorary Hockey mom I was surrounded by self-proclaimed Republicans, Democrats, and new Independants. Signs displayed acknowledged that there were staunch pro-lifers rubbing elbows with former Hillary supporters. When the crowd rallied and cheered "M A V E R IC K", there was no increased aggression... we were having a ball, laughing with the many, many young Mccain fans in attendance. If Mr. Dickerson's point was to say that Mccain is on the defensive, fine. He should not, however, characterize the many faceted generations and ideologies represented today as anything other than what it was.... pride in an honorable candidate and the country for which it stands. As a side note, Dickerson did not mention the incredible performance (and story surrounding it) of the National Anthem. The Obama campaign had requested that the young man singing today sing at their rally a few weeks back. The boy was so excited he took a few voice lessons to insure he would do well. Right before the rally, the Obama campaign called to inform him that the program had expanded with additional speakers, and there was no time for the Anthem. Happily, the Mccain campaign included it, and him today. It was beautiful.
GOP rallies are by invitation only
by old_lady

Karl Rove created the photo op political rally by invitation only - and the tradition continues.

Every registered Republican is called in advance and carefully vetted before being admitted to the audience.

I know because I was a registered Republican until this sham began - and I decided these guys are more interested in appearance than truth. Win at any cost - happily it doesn't work anymore...

a crowd of 1,000 isn't difficult to drum up and isn't an impressive turn out. I'm sure it was a beautiful experience for you...but the rest of us are too busy coping with the un-Beautiful economic realities of life - and are too busy holding on to what's left of our jobs and businesses to attend to the needs and wants of a man who, by his actions and Robocalls, spits in the face of our state motto attesting to the fragility of liberty- live free or die... it's on your license plate - read it and believe it.
