The beauty of this round is also the seriousness of this round, smears are not working. It appears the more junk McCain tosses the lower he sinks in the polls. Perhaps this represents voters growing up or simply that we are in such bad shape the smears seem just plain silly by comparison. I read all about Acorn and it appears that utilizing it against Obama is one of the weakest charges of already humorous attempts.

McCain may slip Ayers in as he is up against a wall but it can go either way. Both candidates seem to do best when they talk issues so this is tough for McCain. We'll see.

The problem with the Acorn situation for McCain is his relationship with them as well as Obama hiring them ONLY in the run against Hillary. In a way Obama either got lucky in not hiring them or they simply didn't see the need. Had he or hired them for the National election this slam would have taken off.

There have always been outside "businesses" doing the deeds. One of my biggest beefs is with those Walmart type store petition folks. They stand outside the stores gathering signatures for state and federal bills and the language is questionable. They are hired by a business who is built around petitions. They are changing and impacting state and federal laws. Not much different than Acorn's role. I always recommend people ask who they work for. Many times it is like this Acorn situation...out of state businesses.

That could be true. The problem is it seems to be backfiring if the poll rise is a reaction. It can still do that kind of damage even if it clinches a win though.
