This is the McCain that I used to like and respect, and the McCain I would have voted for before he sold his soul to the Christian right.
Even though he did do the right thing, I doubt he did it for the right reasons. All the commercials trying desperately to make hay out of the Ayres thing are still running. Sarah Palin is still winking at the crowd and hiking up her skirt to show a little leg while saying "terrorist" every other word.
McCain only stepped in when it became clear that all the slack jawed mouth breathing hillbillies that attend his rallies are making him look bad and dragging him down in the polls, and that his desperate attempt to make the last few weeks of the race about character are failing miserably.
Will he drop Palin like a hot potato? Not a chance. He was browbeaten by the GOP into picking her and if he were to dump her he would never recover from the wrath of the Christian right. But that's OK. She's a moron and is helping Obama win the race. She keeps hinting around that she thinks the Reverand Wright association should be talked about more, without any inkling as to why it has not come up yet.
The minute McCain rolls that out, the Obama campaign will immediately respond by informing voters about:
- Palin's association with a church that is affiliated with Jews for Jesus, a group that believes that violence against Israel is simply an example of God's will coming to pass on Earth.
- The laying-on-of-hands blessing she received from an African minister pleading with God to keep her safe from "all forms of witchcraft."
- The pastor of her church telling voters in 2004 that they would go to hell if they voted for John Kerry.
If it's OK to judge Obama on his association with Wright, then all this bullshit is fair game too. I doubt we'll be seeing her act so high and mighty any more, now that it's been concluded that she abused her power as Governer by firing Monegan. A real nice shining beacon of truth, ethics, and morals now, don't you think, moronic GOP strategists?
