I have no Silver Stars. I would never make a claim to something that serious when those who truly earned themed sacrificed so much. Especially the CMH. And I salute your career as well as any decorations you may have earned.
Just the National Service ribbon I received for enlisting and my Honorable Discharge, though I was working on my pistol marksmanship toward the end of my enlistment. Would have been nice if they were using Sig P220's instead of those damn standard issue old Colts. Had a P220, brand new, out of the box and the first round was dead assed centter, the next dimpled the first and the third dimpled the second. The fourth went way the hell over to 10 o'clock because I flinched. I ended up selling it because there was no challenge to it and I don't believe I've shot over 200 rounds.
Anyway, there Hellfire, I did my time from 1971 to 1977 and I haven't forgotten the oath that we both took when we entered our service to this country. I still hold true to it. But remember, the oath was to protect the Constitution, not the Presidency. Had I been in the service at the time of GW Bush I would have taken an early retirement before I rendered a salute to an AWOL Deserter and called him my Commander in Chief. And just because McCain was a POW does not imply unearned respect. He waffled and attempted suicide and no doubt now suffers from PTSD. He should be persuing psychiatric help, not trying to convince people he can run the country. And Palin's laughable claim that John McCain has the experience and knows how to win wars? Bullshit. My brother in law was a war planner at NORAD before taking on both domestic and foreign commands of his own before he retired. That's experience. And which World War was won against large, mechanized, organized armies, navies and air forces under Republican leadership? Oh? None?
I am not the "Liberal" as defined by the Rovian cult. The imaginary manifestations embellished by the likes of Rush the Flaccid Junkie [who did not serve due to a pimple on his fat ass], mAnn Coulter, O'Really?O'Reilly? Liar extraodinaire who did not serve this country, nor Cheney who had 'better things to do".
I would like to see the reinstatment of the draft however with slight changes. All serve, only exception: severe physical and mental handicap. No college deferment, no 'my daddy is somebody big in government', no may daddy is rich with connections. All serve. Because I also believe that the USA should have an invincible Armed Force with the latest and the greatest weaponry. But I also beleive that the only way to do that effectively is to allocate an educational budget that is equal to or greater than the defense budget. The former will eventually feed the latter, especially if we reward business that remains in the USA. Which also makes me firmly believe that business should operate unfettered by regulation as long as they operate legally, do not abuse their most valuable assett -their employees and do not jeapardize the national security of the USA, like they do now under the blessing of both Republicans and earlier Democrats.
But if all you can understand is nasty, then don't think you're going to sit there in pompous, self righteous indignation, huffing and blowing about your retired Army status and think the rest of us are simply going to sit back and say 'Yes sir, No sir!' Welcome to the real world. Welcome to the Real Boss. The Soveriegn Individuals of the USA.
Now run home and fetch your shine box, little girl.
