I have made no secret of the fact I am not very political, and also that my faith in religion has also taken a beating since I have gotten older.
The reason in both instances is shown here on this forum. Either belief, in a political party or person, being conservative or liberal, being profoundly religious and willing to follow the teachings of a certain persons or faiths, I think leads to loosing your objectivity, your common sense and your ability to see through smoke and mirrows.
There is no doubt that the reason certain persons on here are opposed to Obama as a candidate. It is the fact that he is black. I think the reason for the dislike of McCain is valid because his policies tend to follow and parellel GW. Bush's. If you don't like GW you sure are not going to like McCain.
The dislike for McCains running mate is more difficult for me to decifer. She is a very pretty woman which might prejudice some either for or against her.
There is now a backlash it seems against the Republicans because of GW. For a party that seemed to have so much going for it after Reagan, the Conservatives seemed to have gotten over confident and blew their popularity. Much of this has happened because Bush and Cheney were influenced to much by the Neo Conservatives and the Iraq war has turned the greater public against both the Neocons and the Republican party as a whole.
The present economic situation in America and the world has also came to haunt both Republicans and Democrats. Personally I think both parties are bankrupt when it comes to solving the present difficulties.
Personally I feel that neither party is doing right by the people who have trusted their money and our lives to their leadership. Much of the problems that face us today has come about because of poor leadership from Presidents, Congress and Religious leaders.
Going to the polls and pulling a lever or making an X in a certain box is not enough to satisfy the requirements of being a good citizen. You have the obligation to take the time to study the situations and have a pretty good idea of where realistically this country should go.
Also maybe one of my biggest fault would be directed towards the media, mainly TV, because that is where the majority of citizens get their information. It has become slanted and biased and not really towards the liberal bias as some like to think. Since some very large corprations own various TV networks, it is not hard to think they present news that favor corporations.
The present writings of certain poster that Obama is a Communist because certain Communist leaders favor him being President, makes him Communist is really sick. If Ben Lauden came out and said he favored McCain winning, which going along with Osama's wish to bankrupt America, would that mean the McCain was a terrorist?
Really in my heart I feel that in the next half decade this country may either succeed of cease to be. We have many dangerous situations hurtleing towards us like meteors. Most are man made and could be eliminated as great risks if the general public of the world might recognize and work to eleviate these tremendous challenges. But we are like lions fighting over the remains of a kill. This country and probably the indudtrailized world has become consummed with greed. Money has become the Jesus, the Mohammed of everyone. We worship money and what it can buy for us.
I was raised in the depression by a woman who was widowed with seven children to raise. She could make a dollar go further than anyone I have ever seen. She was a credit to the human race. Like many people in the world we discovered how little is really needed instead of how much.
I have become ashamed of America. Ashamed because our policies have cause so much hardship and death to many innocent persons in the world who happened to get in the way. We have done good things and I would be wrong to say that the American people are not decent and generous. But that has been nullified by the many times that we have started wars and been the cause of innocent persons dying. Even one person dying in a war that should never have been started is one too many.
I personally believe we are in the end times of America. Not the one of the Biblical disaster, but the end of this country as we know it. To meet the many coming challenges that are coming down the road of life, America wil by neccessity have to change drastically. My hope, because I am sure I will not be here, is that someone will come along who the people will follow and give up what can not be and live realistically and realize all humanity and creatures of this world, has a right to survive.
