'Troopergate' - what now?
by Esox88
"....Under Alaska law, it is up to the state's Personnel Board, not the Legislature, to decide whether Palin violated the ethics laws. If so, it must refer the matter to the Senate president for disciplinary action. Violations also carry a possible fine of up to $5,000.

It's unlikely that investigation will be over before Nov. 4, however. If Palin is the vice president-elect, the results will hardly matter. If she loses, she'll have to address the board's findings at home." <link> Can you say presidential pardon?

The problem I have with the personnel board thing is that it is appointed by the governor and reports to the governor, who is at the center of the controversy. I am somewhat puzzled at the effort GOP went to in order to shut down this investigation if this is all it turned up. I think it was fairly obvious that Palin tried to get Wooten fired, it was less clear whether or not she fired the commissioner because he refused to fire Wooten. In the report, that argument was rendered meaningless with assertion that the government can fire and hire as she pleases. Palin is still a misguided and deliberately ignorant wackjob.
