Looking ahead, what's going to happen in both these places is the US backed factions are going to fight their various opposing factions, while simultaneously cutting deals with them, until everything settles down , for a while anyway.

That's what always happens, everywhere. Doesn't have a thing to do with the "march of Democracy" and even less to do with US security.

Your policy elite can, and will, use these kinds of foreign political struggles to get elected, or enrich their campaign donors (the same thing, actually),
but the question for you, the American voter who's paying for it in blood and money, is this:

How long will we keep it up, considering the end result will be the same, whether we keep it up for one more year or ten?
