McCain capping supporters' vitriol?

At a rally McCain responded to some of his supporters personal attacks on Obama by essentially chastising them. Actually called Obama "decent".

Of course, I don't expect the ads or Palin et. al. to go all gushy but its nice to see that there are limits; that perhaps he feels compelled, out of decency not to be responsible for inciting violence.

I hope it's that versus political expediancy.

in the political sense. Had he thought to do this sort of thing 6 months ago, or even a week ago, he would've earned political points. Now though, everyone knows that he was shamed into it by the politic. Instead of this making him look stronger, it just makes out to be that much weaker.

With his history of inappropriate jokes I doubt the man has any sense of honor left.

When he joked with Jon Stewart telling him he put an IED under his desk what did he think the parents of soldiers killed or maimed would feel? Maybe Cindy should walk in their shoes....

Too little too late for McCain. And that is not what his supporters at his rallies want to hear. They are mad as hell. At whom? It is unclear.

To tell you the truth, I think that Joe might have suggested to John that things were going a little too far. Sarah might not say anything but I suspect that Joe might be worried about that sort of rage boiling over. Of course, Joe's effectiveness in Washington is probably toast anyway. But ...

Or, perhaps someone with an operating brain pointed out to him that he could br charged with inciting a riot if one or more of his riled-up supporters were to act out on their threats of "bomb him!"
