The Nazis rise again.
by Ex-Pat
+2 Reply

In post WWI German, with the infrastructure in tatters and the economy collapsed, the Nazi propaganda machine focused the fear and uncertaintly of the people against intellectuals, Marxists and Jews.

The American Right today has a longer list, but it's basically the same: the elite, the media, poor blacks, immigrants and non-Christians.

Education, race and religion. How easy it is to demonize "the other" with these identifications.

It does not matter who wins this election. There are very, very scary times ahead for the U.S.

Exactly. This could have been a healing election but it has turned nastier than ever. The sides aren't going to reconcile anytime soon. Considering our difficulties in the present, resolution to these problems will be delayed. I'm not sure if I'm witnessing Republicans and Democrats or time traveling to Rome to observe the Blues and the Greens. Obviously, this is the outcome of the divide and appeal to the base style of American politics over the last decade.

They aren't Nazis, they're sore losers and offensive goons. Everyone who knows these people in real life would, I'm quite sure, agree. John McCain and Sarah Palin are their reigning king and queen.

After Obama is elected and they have a few weeks to forget John and Sarah, they'll recrown Rush (or some other loudmouth hate monger) and go back to following him.

Th mufti met with hitler in the 1930's and began an alliance against the west. The muslims have for generations been rasing and sending thier subversive agents of jihad to the west. And one named barack hussein obama is their poster child. obama is not a christian, he pretends to be to fullfill his orders of overthrowing the west. He will not win, the media is overhyping him so the blacks won't feel bad about themselves. McCain has his supporters squarely in his pocket, obama does not. McCain has more coming over to his side and it is obama that is struggling. but the polls are manipulated to make it seem like he is doing well. it's the same thing they do to blacks at work. everyone knows they are stupid retards and only there due to affirmative action and can't work at the same level. instead of having them wear hockey equipment and ride the short bus, they make it seem like they do well.

Excellent! Let's take this list of folks the GOP wants to eliminate one at a time, shall we?

"The American Right today has a longer list, but it's basically the same: the elite, the media, poor blacks, immigrants and non-Christians."

* The elite: So... am I to understand that the Democrats *want* to maintain a class system? I thought Democrats were all about eliminating that.

* The media: No, not eliminate it. Balance it. At one time, there was a phrase that was proudly used amongst media types to describe themselves. Do you recall what it was? "UNBIASED." How many main stream media types brand themselves with that today?

* Poor blacks: HELL YES WE WANT TO GET RID OF THEM! Why should they remain POOR forever? Let's get those folks the tools and education (keep in mind who's been running THAT show!) they need so they can be free of the label, "poor blacks." They're people, just like anyone else, but they've been deprived of their rights in this country by liberals who want to keep them exactly where they are, so they can continue blame, "rich, white Republicans," for their condition and maintain their power. DAMN I wish Colin Powell were running. He'd have my vote in a heartbeat.

* Immigrants: Hello? Welcome to the melting pot! Integration is what makes this country strong, NOT keeping everyone separate. So, getting rid of the, "immigrant," stigma is essential. Now, if you meant, "illegal immigrants," then yes, those folks should be encouraged to make a go of it in their land and legally apply for immigration to the U.S.A. Unless, of course, you are really saying you endorse lawlessness? No. I think it's deeper. I think you just can't stand the thought of having to hire American citizens to be your gardeners, greenskeepers, fruit pickers and domestic help. The cost would be outrageous, wouldn't it?

* Non-Christians: It's curious how 9/11 all the sudden became a holy war. Well... there were a few (really, an insanely small percentage) muslims who declared jihad and an even smaller group who declared fatwa against good people like Greg Mortenson. So, think about this: who was it that put this thought into peoples' heads? who controls the media? Who villified the muslims? hmm...

The American Left uses the tactics of the Nazis.

Who has been accusing Barack Obama of being an elitist? Not the Democrats, mind you. And no, the Democrats do not want to "eliminate" the class system. They merely support policies that aid the less fortunate. Your caricture of Democrats would be hilarious if you weren't being serious.

* The media: No, not eliminate it. Balance it. At one time, there was a phrase that was proudly used amongst media types to describe themselves. Do you recall what it was? "UNBIASED." How many main stream media types brand themselves with that today?

Once again, simple facts allude you. Palin has led a full scale charge against the "media." The fact of the matter is there are plenty of conservative news outlets in this country, from FOX News and the Wall Street Journal to the National Review and virtually the entirety of AM radio. Hell, Rupert Murdoch owns a media empire; William Bennet and Pat Buchanan are regular commentators in the MSM. There is not a single media-conscious American adult that doesn't know the names Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, or Glenn Beck.

* Poor blacks: HELL YES WE WANT TO GET RID OF THEM! Why should they remain POOR forever? Let's get those folks the tools and education (keep in mind who's been running THAT show!) they need so they can be free of the label, "poor blacks."

Wow, I almost agree with you on this one, except I recognize economic realities and know that there will always be poor blacks in this country; as well as poor whites; poor Latinos; etc. I recognize that providing tools is not enough--not everyone can have a Fortune 500 job or even make it into the middle class. I also believe it is not only in societies best interest, but its duty to support all of its citizen, every last one of them.

They're people, just like anyone else, but they've been deprived of their rights in this country by liberals who want to keep them exactly where they are, so they can continue blame,

What bullshit. What rights have liberals denied them? Contrary to your claims, it is liberals, by and large, that fight for better education etc. However, as I said above, that is not enough. (And also contrary to your claims, the liberals are not the ones solely in charge of education in this country--that is utter bullshit, in fact).

* Immigrants: Hello? Welcome to the melting pot! Integration is what makes this country strong, NOT keeping everyone separate

Once again, we agree.

Now, if you meant, "illegal immigrants," then yes, those folks should be encouraged to make a go of it in their land and legally apply for immigration to the U.S.A.

Sounds like amnesty to me. And, by golly, I am all for it.

I think you just can't stand the thought of having to hire American citizens to be your gardeners, greenskeepers, fruit pickers and domestic help. The cost would be outrageous, wouldn't it?

You're a walking contradiction and the sad thing is you do not even realize it. Here you are claiming liberals are elitist (sorry, most middle class folks don't hire gardners, greenskeepers, and domestic help--most Americans outside of rural areas never even see the fruit pickers).

I pay a drunk that lives down the street from me to help me do menial lawn work. He earns the money to go buy more booze or whatever else he may do--but I am not giving him a handout (oh, god damn me, such a bad liberal).

We used to pay my sister to occasionally help clean our house. She could use the money, we could use the help. When she was no longer able to do it (too busy), we hired an immigrant from Guatemala. Why did we hire her--because we are middle class and it was what we could afford. We would have also hired any trustiworthy person, regardless of nationality, if the price was right. It wasn't even a consideration.

Who villified the muslims?

I hate to be the one to break this to you,but this has been an ongoing issue for 1,400 years.

The American Left uses the tactics of the Nazis.

Sadly, you do not know a thing about Nazism if you think the American Left is using the same tactics. The right wing was so much more adorable when they accused all leftists of being Marxist.

I posted two videos of Palin supporters in a post above. These are the individuals that are using Nazi-esque tactics--scapegoating powerless groups; accusing their opponents of being socialists and Communists; threatening violence against those with whom you differ; attacking liberalism (a very large component of Nazism was attacking liberalism); accusing their opponents of being unpatriotic while wrapping themselves in a exceptionally perverted version of patriotism; and, yes, totalitarianism (they believe that they, and they alone are right and should have full control).

Tanenhaus:

As [Ayers] observed, "They are kids after all, and nothing they did can possibly change them into adults."

Nobody is trying to change kids into adults. Ayers can portray us as people who are trying to do that, though, but he can do it only if we have agreed to fault ourselves for not having made clear to him that our goal is not to satisfy the most craven desires of a lusting-after-blood justice.

If we accommodate Ayers, if we allow him to stall the trial by means such as the ones he suggests we employ, we'll accomplish no part of what it is that we came here to do.

Spruce, you old bleeding heart leech!

Start any popular threads lately, or are you still picking on college girls with middleview? (it's okay for you two to come out, everyone's doing it these days - it's the "in" thing - go ahead...)

Nice turn on that Guatemalan. Did you declare him/her/it on your taxes too? You did remember to pay your fair share, right? Oh... wait... isn't your retirement in the toilet? But, you can somehow afford a Guatemalan laborer. I forget. So many liberals, so little time.

Heil Obama!

The Republicans have been transforming themselves into a fascist party ever since the election of George Bush with their emphasis on nationalism, militarism and a corporatist economic policy. With John McCain's recent appeals to overt racism, they have completed that transformation.

To see the ugly consequences of the Republicans latest campaign strategy, go look at the profile of jbralnc5pts, who posted to this thread above. Tthere you will find the dark heart of hatred, fear and racism. Here is a post he made today to another thread:

Good Luck with THAT!

And by THAT, I mean, your legally recognized restarded affirmative action fag marrying baby killing nigger. Hey, Obama, where did 20 trillion dollars go over th last year? In a place where you and your kind can't even touch. If you really knew what was good for america you would drink a cup of bleach and just die.

This poster's name, by the way, is Jason Bedard and he is a deacon at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. Jason is, in many ways, the poster boy of those angry McCain/Palin supporters we see on the campaign trail. Those of you are reading should consider whether you want Jason and his ilk to be our future, or whether we should consign them to the past. To me, the choice seems simple.

The point is that propagandists will lay blame on particular groups of people to divert rage away from those who really caused the problems. That is how they consolidate and maintain power.

The problems in the U.S. are caused by a fascist Administration, a corrupt Legislative and a politically stacked Judiciary. So much for your three pillars of democracy.

That is the list that needs to be addressed. Joe Six Pack is being tricked into believing that "those who are different from him" are the problem, when it is the system itself that is red rotten.

Re: The Nazis rise again.

Jeez!

"restarded (sic) affirmative action fag marrying baby killing nigger?"

All that was left was to add the word, "Nazi!" I wonder why he held back? That is sooo unlike him. Then again, he plainly isn't a liberal Democrat. So, he has *some* restraint. Maybe not the best grammar and spelling, but plenty of restraint - salt of the earth, that man. I remember the last time we met, at the secret underground meeting of the GOPSTAPO. He brought this lovely fruit salad with walnuts. Never sent me the recipe, though.

I hear Manilow is re-tooling, "Mandy," for Obama's inaugaral ball. Can't wait!

Re: The Nazis rise again.

Legally, there are three. Traditionally, there are four (the media is supposed to play that role... supposed to...). And, as long as we have guns, there are five.

But, there are folks trying to take away #5.

The propagandists have a new name these days: Marketing Directors.

Hey Levon Tostig,

Are you at the bong, man? 'Cause nothing you are writing is holding together in any kind of rational way.

Since you brought up Manilow ...

I can hear you singing (Prince -- 1999), "I was dreaming when I wrote this, forgive me if it goes astray".
