Oh, was that a spelling mistake? You did it six times, so I assumed it was intentional. I guess I can't take a drink now. ;-)
"Also, playing the "race card" as you do in your post is getting pretty tiresome."
How's that again? I played nothing even remotely resembling a race card, in my last post or in any post I've ever written. Are you sure you're not confusing me with someone else? Or even lumping me into a group in which I do not belong? I should warn you, my views are not easily classified in simple terms.
"As for Jesus, I am not the one who will have explaining to do when He returns, for I am written in the BOOK OF LIFE and at the end of the day all other issues are meaningless. Your "global warming" will be nothing compared to what awaits the unsaved and proud marxists in the Afterlife."
I thought no man kneweth the hour. I could have sworn I read that somewhere, so your pretending to know that Obama was rescheduling Christ's return is... questionable at best. I also seem to recall reading about how one should sell all of one's posessions and give the money to the poor and how one should store up treasure in Heaven and not on Earth. Then there was that nice bit of poetry about a camel passing through the eye of a needle more easily than a rich man could enter the kingdom of Heaven. What was that book I read all of that in? Are you quite certain you've read your Bible carefully enough? Go ahead, tell me that the Devil can quote Scripture to serve his own ends. I've heard that one before. ;-)
In short, speaking strictly in terms of how one human should behave towards another, Marx and Christ have quite a bit in common. "From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs," seems to be something that Jesus could get behind. But your point is well-taken. I am by any standard both heretic and heathen, and if your faith is the only path to enlightenment then I am quite doomed. Fortunately, I don't believe that and I am a citizen of a nation that allows me the freedom to believe and disbelieve as I choose.
"And those are FACTS you and your "etymology" won't be able to help you with, buddy!"
Well, those are certainly your BELIEFS. Matters pertaining to faith by definition cannot be classified as facts, no matter how strongly you may personally believe in something. The Buddhists strongly believe that your spirit will continue through the wheel of death and rebirth until you achieve enlightenment through the Eightfold Path. Can you prove them wrong in any objective sense? Of course not, and why would you even try?
The bottom line is that politics in America is and should remain secular. We were not conceived as a theocracy, and your religious choices may guide how you vote, but you may not force them upon me using government as your tool. That is a line you will not cross.
Besides, if your God exists, I think He would be a big fan of etymology. Why else would He choose to address the world in so noble a language as Greek? ;-)
