GM anyone?

Another American icon, ala Chrysler, is on its way out. GM was once the largest car manufactuerer in the world. It has since gone from manufacturing to a company that provides health care for its retirees. Ah, the good life!

As I type this, GM is trading near $5.75 per share. It won't be long before Saudi Arabia buys the company and moves it to Ryad. They already own most of CitiCorp and many others.

Enjoy what's left of America.

We can thank the UAW

UNITED AUTO WORKERS (UNION).

Unions have all but destroyed work in America.

We can also thank the GM management.

FYI ,One of the Japanese companies just signed a Union contract. And GM is building a huge new plant in Flint,Michigan.

They also built a huge 50 million dollar distribution plant a couple of miles from me.

I have been hearing from the 1970's that GM is dead. And in case anyone noticed the stock market is off by 2000 points.

Blaming the union is ludicrous, TB, and you should realize that. In fact, in recent years the unions have been hamstrung to be effective as they once were as champions of the working class and you should also realize that. This entire commotion results for a combination of events that can be applied to both sides of the coin, and you should also know that.

Contrary to what you say, unions saved the working class of people back during the dark days of the depression when management had a choke hold on them.

I don't think anyone would argue that unions were a vital and necessary component at one time.

But I think your argument that they cannot be blamed for getting greedy is false. Workers deserve honest compensation, but company shareholders deserve honest profits as well. There needs to be balance in the equation and Unions haven't always been willing to find that balance. (Nor of course has management.)

And I know of more than a few unions that work on longevity instead of merit, not the best way to provide the best workers.

Remember Gramps, TB is living down there where he gets away with paying his employees a few dollars if not only cents a day......he don't want no unions down there....

LOL, what an uneducated fool you are TruettCollins. I don't know that you can read any of it, but with some simple searches you could learn that almost every Mexican in the country is a member of some union. Taxi drivers, nurses (the entire social medical system actually), even farmers.

Wage scales are lower, but that's not because of the unions of lack of unions in Mexico. The largest and strongest union in the nation is the Confederacion Trabajadores Mexicanas

Talk about a lack of education......we all know that down south of the border the so called unions have zero power against the government........

I once had to sue GM, GMAC, and the GM DEALER and won in court. There is no love loss between that corporation and me. Maybe they should have not listened to the incoming Republican President in 2001 and kept producing the electric car.

Seasoldier/Oh well, they all find out sooner or later that shenanigans like that don't keep a company's market growing.

Unions weren't designed to be power against the government, they were for "collective bargaining". In Mexico however, they alligned themselves with the rulling party (PRI) for so many decades their power base dropped significantly when the PAN won it's first Presidency with Vicente Fox.

Simple minded fool.

Are you for real? You want us to believe that GM/GMAC/GMDealer were following Bush's directives leading you to win a law suit?

Bush is responsible for EVERYTHING WRONG ON EARTH?

No dumb dung, did I even mention Bush? You just want to pick fights. Hahahahahahahaha

Seasoldier/Include yourself with that fellow--maybe the two of you can get discounts at the VA hospital by sharing needles or something!
