I just received an email from my husband

and here is what it says:

I just heard a news story where a guy was buying a cell phone. Another dude started throwing racial slurs at him and told him he was going to kill him. So the guy left the store, got in his car, when the hot-headed dude fired 3 shots into the car, hitting the shopper in the face, hand, and shoulder. He was able to drive away, call for help and ultimately did survive. The reason he was shot: he was wearing an Obama shirt. They are still looking for the nut-job. The secret service is going to be really busy. Do you still think those rallies of Palin's are harmless?
The question at the end

is from me.

Also a republican stronghold, just got hit with a major job loss for the area. Archway cookies just filed bankruptcy and Ashland Ohio will lose 300 jobs. This is very sad, because I am familiar with the area, and it is dying.

I guess next you'll blame Palin for the assassination of Martin Luther King?

Don't forget her role in killing Sadat.

fruitcake!

I think that a link, so that the truth or lack thereof in this story can be assessed, is warranted.

Further, I didn't see anything linking the alleged shooter to a Palin rally?

And even if I had, is it now the rule that candidates are responsible for the actions of every person that listens to them speak?

This is incredibly shallow and the decision to relay it reflects poorly on you.

yes

I agree it reflect poorly on me that I am concerned for the safety of Obama and his supporters. I am concerned that Palin and McCain eerily take great joy in people yelling such things as "Kill Him" and "Terrorist" in reference to Obama. Yes you are right, I should just sit down and shut up.

Nevermind that you can see these rallies on Youtube all around the world, and you really don't have to be there to be affected by the hate speech. Rallies are filmed.

Re: yes

But you accuse Palin especially and McCain of hate speech when they are not guilty of any such thing.

Palin is having a terrible effect on the national dialog, and she'd make a horrid VP, but she hasn't crossed the line into inciting violence in anything she's said, so free speech rules. Her attempt to link Obama to terrorism will certainly result in more wack-jobs wanting to take a shot at the guy. But the Ayers connection is a legitimate subject for attack politics, so we've just got to suck it up. Still, I hope the Secret Service understands what they're likely to be up against. I think Obama's going to be much more of a target than any president of the modern era -- keeping in mind that there were attempts on the lives of several of them, including one successful assassination.. His chance of making it through his first term unwounded might be about 50/50.

Of course Obama having those associations isn't Obama's fault, it's Palins for pointing them out.

Then you claim it's a legitimate subject, "for attack politics". I say it's something every voting American needs to know about Obama. There are more to come, Arkady.

LOL - Arkady's America

Free speech may rule
by scully
but does responsibility have a role here. McCain smirks at some of the BS flowing through their supporter's mouth. If they can manipulate people through their "scary black man" rhetoric and not reign in some of the comments, are they not partially responsible? One man said "kill him". Did they stop and say something about that comment being wrong, or disagree with it? No, they let it happen with no comment at all. That is condoning the hate speech. And by condoning it, it's as good as saying it themselves.

I have to disagree with you this time Arkady. They are walking a dangerous line, and I find their lack of action towards that kind of speech (reigning it in) a lack of character and very bad for this country.
I agree Arkady...
by KnotaFrayed

She cannot be blamed for directly inciting violence, but what type of leader would not comment on someone in the audience, if they heard them, shout out "kill him"?

I would like to see some better audio video evidence that someone clearly said "kill him" which would draw into question whether Palin actually heard it and did not comment.

McCain and perhaps the nation might be as or more cautious of his survival chances, not just as the result of his age, but those who would prefer to have Sarah Palin as President.

Coulter on McCain

Coulter on Palin

Nobody has siad "scary BLACK man"

You are the racist in this thread.

Ayers isn't black, but he is damn sure scary.

Re: I agree Arkady...

With the "kill him" and "terrorist" crowd comments, they have plausible deniability, since it's possible that the word was easier to hear over the mic than to the person at the podium, so maybe they just didn't catch it.
How many Democrat Presidents
by berzerker

have had assasination attempts...and how many attempts have been done against Republicans?

Clearly, Democrats are more likely to attack Republicans than vice-versa.

If you feel that way about Palin, then you should call for the banning of Bill Mahr and Moveon.org

They are far worse than Palin.
