I understand some older generations doing so...my older brothers and sisters do. But starting with me and my younger siblings...NONE of us smoke.

I don't know what kind. Many cancers aren't associated with smoking. I don't know if his mother smoked.

I watched my grandfather die of Lung Cancer...but his was more likely associated with him being a mine worker.

My mother broke us younger kids of smoking when she caught my older sister doing it. She made all three of us smoke a cigarette. I was 11, my little sister was 7 and my younger brother was 5. That pretty much did it for us.

Um, she died of ovarian and cervical cancer. I'd hate to see how she smoked those cigarettes if that is what caused it.

I agree, smoking is stupid. Obama tried quitting cold turkey in 2006, but admitted to Chris Matthews during the primary season that he has had a couple of relapses on the campaign trail.

I doubt Obama is unversed in the connection between smoking and lung cancer. My grandpa, who isn't educated at all, understands the link and says he was well aware of the risks when he started smoking as a youth. That hasn't stopped him from burning through three packs a day for the past 70 years.

I tried and like Clinton,could not inhale,almost choked.That was the end for me. Most of my friends smoked,but all quit.

I don't have as much money as Obama, but if I thought he would get cancer before November, I would personally buy his cigarettes... he doesn't have to "borrow" them.

Yes, smoking is bad and yes smoking can and does kill people and yes it does not seem smart to smoke, whether you are Barack Obama or the King of Siam.

But I am older than Obama...and as a child grew up when they first started really informing everyone that they caused cancer.

Obama, being younger than me had this knowledge his whole life...pre-addiction.

I'd also point out that Obama has small children at home. The second hand smoke is endangering his children.

Frankly, I think parents should have their children taken away if they prefer to smoke over their children's health.
