human flesh in those days?"

Yevgraf Zhivago......at the beginning of the film Dr.Zhivago.....explaining to a young Communist.....the price of revolution.

With the impending financial collapse........and the coming Obamalution................that line keeps coming into my head.

Also....the scene..."Train to the Urals"........where Zhivago has lost everything and is just trying ot get his family out to the boondocks and away from the Bolsheviks....keeps popping into my head.

Always liked the film......never thought I'd have to live it.

Ya know, there's plenty of stuff around to eat without having to resort to eating each other. Rats, squirrels, pigeons, cockroaches, ants, worms, acorns, kudzu...I doubt you'll have to live the film.

Stay classy happy.............you're positivity is a much needed antidote to my brooding Russian soul.

Well, I don't know if it's positivity so much as practicality.

Seems to me it would be a whole lot easier and more expedient to whip up a little acorn and kudzu stuffed squirrel than to attempt to kill, clean, cook and eat your neighbour...although that may be largely due to the fact that my neighbours are a lot bigger and stronger than I am.

They may think roasted neighbour would be a better option. Apparently you do too, since the idea of eating things that hang around in your yard/garage didn't seem to occur as a reasonable possibility to you, in the event of overwhelming economic/social catastrophe...what's happened to that good old American ingenuity?

Poor el cid....he wishes he had been born 80 years earlier so that he could have joined the White Army and re-taken Mother Russia for the Tsarists!

LOL

I'm not advocating it happy......I'm citing a classic movie scene and alluding to Obamalution.

Sure I'd rather eat kudzu......but what if O confiscates all the kudzu?

Re: "Did you know that there were children who survived on....

Dude, where do you live??? God, even if he existed, couldn't confiscate all the Kudzu, it's in irradicable, imported pest infiltrating the country and spreading rapidly. It just happens to be edible, that's all.

"...never thought I'd have to live it."

Advocating or not, you seemed resigned to the idea that it was a foregone conclusion. (Which, I'm quite sure a lot of other people would agree, but that's mostly because a lot of other people are complete morons, unaware of anything outside of their immediate sphere of ideas and interaction. Oh, the sky is falling, let's start eating each other because I haven't spent even one milisecond contemplating more obviously useful alternatives. Yeah, like I said, not really positivity, just practicality. ;))

Are you gonna shoot down all my flights of fancy with this practicality thing?

Don't piss on my campfire.......now stay classy!

That’s what happens when you consolidate the wealth of a nation in the hands of the Tsar and his relatives, leaving the rest of the country in crushing poverty and starvation. We have the same wealth distribution in this country but, lucky for us, the bottom 90% live in relative comfort, provided nobody gets sick.

That’s why the biblical ass-kicking coming to the Republicans will be peaceful and calm – there’s kudzu enough for everybody.

Powdered wig Monarchism is an ugly thing.

But so are packs of street urchins knawing on kudzu.

Re: "Did you know that there were children who survived on....
by happyatheist

Well, if you're going to be out there willy-nilly eating people, then I reckon I can piss on any campfire I darn well please.

Let's see who gets arrested first...

So, yeah, I am going to shoot down all your flights of fancy unless they even remotely resemble something plausibly possible.

I'll bet you're wearing sensible shoes.

And I suppose you're gonna tell me that there's no parallel between Obamalution....and the Revolt of the Yellow Turbans during the Chinese Warring States period.

Even Reptilicus can see that one.

But fire away Ms. Sensibility.

Re: "Did you know that there were children who survived on....
by happyatheist

Well, I don't know about that. Kudzu consumption, in my experience can be accomplished rather daintily if one wishes.

Re: "Did you know that there were children who survived on....

I'm not wearing shoes. I prefer to go without shoes.

And I have no idea what the Yellow Turbans thing was all about, so can't comment on that one. But I do know that we are nowhere near any sort of revolution...too much apathy for revolt. Let them eat kudzu, they'll be happy. Especially if you tell them that rich yuppies eat it too, it's all the rage.
