Gross Negligence and Malfeasance
by raddad

The following individuals should absolutely required to donate a sum equal to the amount of their salary and bonuses over the period 2005-2007. Why? Because they "played the fiddle while (their own personal) Rome burned". I'm thinking the "Bailout the Market Fund" would be a good place for them to start.

CEO OF NAME Personal Salary (plus bonus) 2005-07 (in millions)

Countrywide Angelo Mozillo 361.7

Lehman Bros Richard Fuld 185.5

Merril Lynch Stan O'Neil 66

Bear Stearns James Cayne 42.3

CitiGroup Charles Prince 41.5

WaMu Kerry Killinger 36

AIG Martin Sullivan 25.4

Wachovia G. Kennedy Thompson 16

Freddie Mac Richard Syron 12.9

Fannie Mae Daniel Mudd 11.6

And no, I don't believe that because they made less, they are any less guilty than anyone else. And yes, as CEO and primary guide of the company and business practices of that company, that makes them totally responsible. I think the guilty parties are right there, and they should so hang for the damage they have caused this country. And. When I say gross, I mean the ungodly amounts of money they earned while sucking the life out of people.

That may be Just, but it is not legal. Congress wrote the laws that exempted the CEOs or the corporate owners from responsibility if the corporation fails.

Then the laws need to be changed again. A doctor is held responsible, and open to lawsuit if a patient dies under his care, why not a CEO be liable for some sort of penalty for the equal in business?
