Dr.Bill and Mr.Quinn
by unrbug

Small world.

Today I found out another person I know knew Mr.Quinn.

My neighbor, Andy Rancourt attended Hartford Public High in 1956, Honors classes. He got expelled for not getting along with the physics teacher. He would have been in the class of 1958. He soon passed the GED and had his own business when he was 18. There was something about the Air Force also. He reported that the new High School is having problems; he hears from teachers. I just thought it was interesting. What years were you there? I was there in fall 1957.

unebug, as I mentioned to you in a previous post, I taught both day/night high schools(1985-95). Mr. Quinn was a principal before I arrived. Amado Cruz(Puerto Rican/Dr.Eddie Davis(Black)were principals who represented major changes in student populations. Hartford High School is the 2nd oldest high school in U.S. founded 1638, two years after Harvard College 1936; Boston Latin School is the oldest high school-1635. Unfortunely, Harford High is one of the worst while Boston Latin is one of the best in the country.

Hartford Board of Education, several years ago, voted 6-3, to turn the entire district(all 32 schools, all 26,000 kids, and its $200 million dollar budget) to EDUCATION ALTERNATIVES, INC, a private company, headquartered in Minnepolis, Minnesota. IT FAILED.

Thanks for the information. My memory is not so good sometimes. I remember you had mentioned Hartford Public High. Still a small world.
