Yes, but it only takes a few points
by Ripley
To me, the most interesting move is an attempt by the Democrats to reclaim the moral high ground by re-defining it. I have heard the questions, if I'm a moral Christian then how can I support a man that lied to get us into a war? Why do I think abortion is terrible but soldiers and innocent civilians dying in an unneccessary war is okay? How can I support policies that allow corrupt businessmen to steal and go unpunished? These actually are hard questions. My personal opinion is that just because Bush was a liar and an idiot, that's no reason to abandon all my beliefs and embrace the liberal cause, but I'm just one person. There are some Republicans that don't like McCain, either because he's too liberal or not liberal enough, and 2006 shows it only takes a few people shifting here and there to shift a state over. But I agree that partisan lines are still in place, and neither candidate is really trying to tear that down and find some common ground so that we can finally quit fighting over abortion, sex education and evolution. Really, these are emotional side issues (especially that evolution vs creationism) that we wring our hands over, but really they don't make alot of difference in the long run. A comprehensive sex ed program can certainly include and promote abstinence. You don't have to "believe in evolution" to pass a biology test, you only need to know what it is. Later you can decide what you really believe, as evidenced by the fact that the majority of Americans don't really buy it. SO WHAT????? I think it's more important that our kids can pass biology than whether they believe in evolution or creationism, what are we fighting over? This is ridiculous.

No, evolution vs. creationism is not an "emotional" issue. It is a factual one. There can only be one set of facts and, sorry creationists, but every fact when examined objectively points to the conclusion that the world is more than six thousand years old and that life evolves through natural selection.
