Post-partisanship is a goal, not a promise

The Big Sort is a Big Problem for America. We have been given
increasing choice as to where we live, what we hear and see, and who we
associate with, and it has hardened ideological lines.
Ironically,
the technologies that allow us to do this are not predetermined to
create tunnel vision in people, and could just as easily be used to
open people up. The internet, transportation, social networks,
whatever. These have all made it easier to put yourself out there and
not just hear what you already believe, but if we so wanted, we could
hear all there is to hear.
A true liberal is
post-partisan because they recognize that this information revolution
should be used to liberate us from restrictive and inflexible
ideologies. A true liberal isn't spending all day on dailykos, or slate
for that matter (But I like these message boards, so here I am.).
Whether you participate in the big sort as a democrat or republican,
you are by definition participating in a conservative movement.
Post-partisanship
can only exist with a globalist worldview. When America stops being so
introverted and self centered, we will realize that the new frontier
and the new manifest destiny lies outside of our borders. When we think
more globally, americans will realize how similar they actually are,
and all the technology that we use to separate ourselves now will start
being used to bind us together.
