DEBATE

MCCAIN WINS THE DEBATE ON SUBSTANCE, PLAIN AND SIMPLE. IF ANYONE LISTENED CLOSELY, OBAMA ACTUALLY THREATENED THOSE WHO WOULD NOT PROVIDE HEALTH CARE. I THOUGHT THE CONSTITUTION WAS SET UP SO THAT THE CITIZENS WOULD NOT HAVE TO FEAR GOVERNMENT. DOES THAT NOT SOUND FAMILIAR? VOTING FOR PORK BARREL SPENDING? HAVE A SET TIME TO END A WAR? (HITLER WOULD HAVE LIKED THAT) SPEND, SPEND, SPEND. $250,000.00 IS NOT A LOT OF MONEY WHEN YOU ARE TALKING SMALL BUSINESSES. BUT OBAMA WOULD ONLY TAX THOSE WHO MAKE MORE THAN THAT (95%) OBAMA IS AN ENEMY TO SMALL BUSINESSES. THEY ARE THE BACKBONE OF THIS ECONOMY, THEY ARE ONE OF THE LARGEST PROVIDERS OF JOBS AND OBAMA'S TAX PLANS WOULD SPEND THEM OUT OF BUSINESS. HIS MATH DOES NOT ADD UP AND HIS EXPERIENCE WITH FOREIGN POLICY IS TOO NAIVE.

In leiu of your rambling, I know a few small business owners... you know... middle class... and they don't make more that 250,000 year...

Colleen, I wish you would turn off your CAPS LOCK KEY.

On the internet IT'S THE EQUIVALENT OF SHOUTING and makes people THINK YOU'RE STUPID even if you're not.

Wow, when you put it like that, IN ALL CAPS, you really do convince people.

I used to handle the books for a small business that I managed and I'm pretty sure the way it works now, and the way it would continue to work, is that small business owners only pay taxes on their net profits. $250,000 isn't that much if you're talking gross profits, but when you subtract all the operating costs (inventory, payroll, etc.) it is rather a lot to take home.

The all caps automatically makes me stop reading. I didn't even get to the part about hitler.

On taxes though, it is incomprehensible to me how anyone would think that while waging two wars, bailing out the financial market, and medicare/medicaid/soc sec breathing down our necks, we wouldn't need to raise taxes.

When McCain said something along the lines of "we don't need to raise taxes on anybody" I thought he was toast (that and his suggestion to buy up the bad mortgages of home owners).

"Read my lips, no new taxes"

Boy did that ever bite George I in the ass. It didn't take him long to...raise taxes.

Yes, Republicans, no matter who gets in office, taxes will be inevitable. Especially since your brethren ran this economy into the ground and gave 700b to their Wall St. buddies.

We can't go on borrowing from China to wage war. As tubbs is saying, between Soc Sec and baby boomers swiftly retiring, this bailout and more likely to come...just where is all this money going to come from?

A lot of you, being possibly still in high school, don't seem to know much about small business. $250k taxable income sounds like a lot if you're talking about sole proprietorship or a mom and pop company, but if the business has 2 or 3 or more shareholders who are splitting the profits, it is a piddling amount. Almost certainly the majority of you reading this work for a company that will be subject to Obama's taxes on the "rich," and a substantial percentage of you will get pink slipped. What do you think happens when you pile even more taxes on entrepreneurs? The onerous requirements he plans to place on small business to provide health insurance or else be fined and punished by the government will only increase the firings.

Maybe in the near future people who lose their jobs will say they got "Obama-slipped."

Get a clue people, raising taxes on business in the midst of an economic crisis is madness, and only a man who has never had a real job or done much productive in his life could conceive of such a policy.

The $250,000 level Obama speaks of for individual income NOT business income. In other words the top 5% of American tax payers will get the Bush tax cuts reversed. And no I'm not in high school and run my own business.
