"Dirtiest Campaign" - Cindy McCain

Cindy McCain says Obama has "waged the "dirtiest campaign in American history".

This is a particularly glaring example of a stock Republican tactic - accuse the Democrat of doing whatever nefarious thing they are doing themselves.

This is like the Wall Street guys accusing the federal regulators of tanking the economy. It's like John Dillenger accusing the police of robbing the bank.

Even though it's blatantly absurd, as this case clearly is, it neutralizes the true charge against themselves in the minds of their mindless mob.

If Cindy were asked to back up her conclusion she would not be able to. An objective look would clearly find that the McCain campaign has initiated lots of negative suggestion-type "charges", while Obama has merely responded to these, and his responses have been fact-based.

I can imagine the meeting in the McCain camp. They realize people are waking up to their dirty tactics. So they decide McCain will have to hold back the kidney punches during the debate.

They also decide they need to accuse Obama of runnning "the dirtiest campaign in American history", since that's what they themselves are doing. But who? McCain or Palin would look totally absurd making that charge. It has to be somebody who isn't yet sleazy in the public mind.

You're right - and now Cindy is taking "credit" for bringing Sarah Palin to the Republican ticket! I wonder if she's doing that to make it appear there was some actual thought behind McCain's choice of Palin - or maybe to deflect some of the criticism John has received for his "brilliant" choice! Who knows - but the Palin surprise is now just a drag on their ticket.

Evidently the McCain camp thinks they have no choice but to try to beat Obama up. I say - go for it! I just makes them look like the losers they are.
