McCain should start emailing this around

...it would remind voters why everyone thought that Democrats were such complete douchebags.

I mean: "If Eastern Europeans think NATO will go to war to defend them against Russia, they're out of their minds!"

What??? I'd happily pick up a gun and fight with the Poles if the Russians came calling, as would most of Western Europe. Ditto for Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. Nato consists of more than the US, you know.

In fact, many of the comments here are so fuckwitted that it could actually sway thousands of voters towards John McCain. He should include a link in his campaign literature.

I don't think the Poles would happily fight the Russians for us, why are you so Sanguine about the potential end of the world? Death wish much?

I would love to watch Barack and his buddies starting to shouting this stuff from the rooftops. I don't believe that most liberal-minded people believe ALL of this stuff, but I am quite certain that many of them believe a good deal of it. Thanks to the author for the valuable reminder of what conservatives must rail against with their dying breaths...

Like most conservative swine you really believe that 28 years (yes, I include Mr. Clinton's 2 terms in this period, he was after all, little more than a moderate republican of 60's vintage) of destructive, mean spirited, self-indulgent republican policies has served the interests of our republic wonderfully. You've given us Ronald (the pimp) Reagan, his detested lapdog, George the 1st, Clinton, (no, I did not vote for him in '92 or '96), and the very worst president this nation has ever seen in George the 2nd. The nation is a smoking ruin (to say nothing of the rest of world) and now you'd like to fob this bellicose, mentally unstable, Alzheimers poster boy, Johnny McTurd off on us, as a kind of parting coup de gras. We really can't thank you enough. The rest of us, those of us with at minimum, the intellectual acuity of a goldfish, have been compelled to weather this shit blizzard for what seems an eternity-the bizzare, psychotic ravings of Annie (The Connecticut Screech) Coulter, Bill (I'm a real smart guy! Just ask me!) O'Reilly, Rush (drug addict? who's a drug addict?) Limbaugh and a scurrilous cast of hundreds. It has been a long, wretched, abysmal 28 years and to see the sun finally setting on the republican empire of Rove, Cheney, Bush, et al, leaves the rest of us just giddy with joy. When 'The One' is taking his first oath of office this January, I'll be thinking of you. I hope you're feeling as lousy as I did when Bush was being sworn in in 2002. (The only election he actually (legally) won by the way).

Trust me, most of us believe most of it.

So refreshing to see "conservatives" and "dying breaths" in the same sentence.

Scoreboard.

Yes indeed. Let's see what it is to have the ex-biggest power on the planet eventually embracing ideas that most developed countries count as normal.

"What??? I'd happily pick up a gun and fight with the Poles if the Russians came calling"

LOL! Bullshit.

Hate to break this to y'all

I live in a city (London) that's only about 600 miles from Poland, so believe me when I say I'd be ready to fight. That said, if the Russians invaded Alaska I don't think I'd give a shit.

Anyway, I've been reading The Audacity of Hope. I hate to break this to y'all, but either your guy's a big liar or else he doesn't actually subscribe into the hippy wish-list that this article proposes.

So... I'm confused (as tends to happen when non-liberals start talking):

If you live in London, and would take up arms should Poland be invaded (as you should), but you wouldn't "give a shit" if Russians invaded Alaska- explain to me how you even have a dog in this fight? Given Alaska's most recent contribution to the rest of the US, I'm not entirely inclined to defend them (at least not within the first 30 days or so- however long the rest of the country has been subjected to the Thrilla from Wasilla) either. But your original post said that the fake liberal sentiment of NATO refusing to go to war on behalf of Poland was wrong. Or didn't apply to you. Or some shit. How exactly is that any different than you saying you wouldn't care to defend the US? I mean, really, what was the purpose of your post? Please help me to understand....

"so believe me when I say I'd be ready to fight"

Yeah, as soon as you were sure we'd be there to back you up.

Funny, but we managed to beat Argentina in the Falklands without any US help at all. Whereas the last war you tired to fight without our help was Vietnam. Oops.

As for my original post, I was merely making the point that most of Nato - i.e the European bit - would happily fight to protect Poland from Russia. If US liberals don't fancy that, then perhaps invite yourself out of the alliance and we Europeans will rearm to our 1940s level. You know, like when Germany almost took over the world on its own, and when Britain managed a third of the world's landmass...

Ahem... "Like most liberal swine..." you stoop to name calling when you have run out of your silly-assed far-leftist, Marxist ideas. How the Christ can you actually delude yourself into thinking that Bill Clinton was a "moderate republican"? (But then delusion has probably been your mainstay for a while now, hasn't it Bunky?
