Tonight's debate...

As far as I am concerned, neither candidate really answered the questions posed to them. I thought there was a lot of blah blah about the why I shouldn't vote for the other guy, depending on which candidate was talking, but not much on why I should vote for him. I would have liked to hear in clear, concise, and to the point answers detailing how each would respond to the issues. At this point in time each should have a clear plan and what they would do to implement it. Instead we were treated to just more of the bovine excreta that passes for political discourse these days. I have made up my mind as to whom to vote for...Ralph Nader!!! I wouldn't give you two cents for either the McCain or Obama.

Your wrong, Obama was much more specific in his idea's, across a wider spectrum of domestic issues, than McCain was. He specified tax cuts for 95% of the population, a few tax increases on earnings in excess of 250k, a wide spectrum drive to make the US energy independent ect.

McCain basicly proposed a 100 billion tax cut on big business and high earners, more deregulation of unspecified nature, and "So we're going to have to tell the American people that spending is going to have to be cut in America. And I recommend a spending freeze that -- except for defense, Veterans Affairs, and some other vital programs, we'll just have to have across-the-board freeze."

I can get you the entire transcript if you want check it yourself.

Thanks! Since that same strategy worked so well in 2000, I'm relieved you've made up your mind. Smooth sailing from here.

Is Nader stil running? I thought the Green Party disowned him, and put up Cynthia Mckinney or someone?

If a candidate went to a debate and started spewing policy specifics, they would come off as being wonky and boring. For better or worse- in my opinion largely for the worse- the presidential debates aren't about the issues as much as they're about political points.

But if you really want specifics they're easy to find. Both candidates have websites, and Obama's has hundreds of pages of policy proposals waiting for you.

Anyone who claims that Obama hasn't come up with specifics is just parroting Fox News talking points and is either too lazy or too computer illeterate to do the research and find the answers for themselves.

As for Nader, I voted for him twice. But if I actually thought he'd have a chance to win, I would have run the other way. For all the good he'd done the country in the past, his presidency would be a disaster of GW Bush proportions. Furthermore, Nader's campaign has become a grand gesture if narcissism . If it was really about political change, he wouldn't be running again himself, but would have put his support into helping to build the green party and break the two-party system we have now.

heard him on the radio last week. i don't know if this is now his official policy, but he was suggesting that if you lived in a "safe" state you could vote for him to send a message without risking the further survival of the republic. I agree with that, but you're 8 years late....
