But as for saying we want a smart president...it's true! Palin and her champions are promoting a false populism that suggests that all we really need is some regular folk with common sense to solve our problems. That the complicated problems our nation faces don't need any particular ability or intelligence to solve, just a little spunk and grit. I think that's bogus, and I do want someone who is a hell of a lot smarter than me to run the country. Personality and "folksiness" isn't enough.
