Good of Scientology

I get so amused when I read anti Scientology messages like this one. I have known Scientology since 1960 and have never in person come across any of this negative data I read about Scientology in the media. All I have ever known of Scientology is that they help people live better lives. Through all the years, I have seen thousands of people change drastically for the better. I have wracked my brains trying to figure out why such an attack and here is my conclusion.

In this day and age bad has overtaken manners and good behavior. You see it everywhere, the shock jocks, ultimate fighting, very popular shows like Jerry Springer, Jackass and the tons of obscenities, drugs promiscuity, broken families, psychiatrist drugging the masses, lawsuits to make the lame rich. How often do you also see totally guilty criminals many of whom have confessed to the most hideous violent crimes walk free and the innocent with vague evidence against them go to jail? All the bad stuff I have read against Scientology come from either a handful of disgruntled people, or it is derived from people quoting other negative reports as been fact. I have yet to read the actual real facts in the media except what I have read from Scientology material itself. This is why there is such a frenzy of negative data on Scientology spreading, people just don’t have the correct data.

I have also observed that in other religions when bad things occur such as what a large percentage of catholic priests have done, it is just a handful of bad guys but the religion does not get slammed or called a cult or a haven for pedophiles to hide. In the Middle East, there are fierce religious wars going on where people are getting their heads hacked off, those are written off as just a few radicals. Could you imagine if just one Scientologist publically cut someone’s head off, videotaped it and put it on the net what would happen? Oh I just realized…..probably nothing, we are living in a world of bad is good. Here is a good example of what I just said. Tom Cruise is madly in love and wants to show the world by jumping on a couch; the media viciously attacks and ridicules him. His bad, he was displaying being good, in fact too good for this current sick society. He would have been totally accepted had he had dreadlocks, tattooed and throwing hand gestures saying “Yo man, I dig to ram my bit*h in the a*s”. He would have been totally accepted; in fact he would have been the coolest dude with rave reports. Tom complains about how the Psychiatrists are drugging the masses, once again he got viciously attacked. His bad, he was looking out for the victims and the helpless against huge evil empires. This world came out of a barbarism and judging by society today, we are heading straight back there at a rapid rate.

My conclusion of why the attacks on Scientology. Just the fact that bad is so prevalent; there must be a whole lot of people making a whole lot of money in a very unethical way and keeping people ignorant only makes them richer. Scientology is a threat to their empire. Scientology makes people more aware, more decent, less prone to fall victim to psyche drugs, not easily scammed or brain washed. Therefore Scientology is the enemy to the current bad culture. Man is basically good and it is guaranteed that any person that reads or acquires the real data on Scientology will oppose this badness that is so prevalent. The powers that be certainly do not want that……..therefore the attacks. Drugs and medicine are by far the biggest business on this planet. That alone should be a wakeup call that something is amiss.

This message of mine is meant for well intentioned people. For those that want to spit fire at me based on your false data on this religion, don’t bother or waste your time, I have heard all cuss words, I have read all there is to read negative about Scientology and you most probably don’t have any new news. Rather feed your thirst for degradation by watching Jerry Springer while popping your Prozac. Sooner or later Scientology will win this evil and you will finally be able to let your skeletons out the closet to your relief.

I agree with you that the basic concepts that scientology contains (really just commen sense) are good, but so are many of the basic messages of the major religions.

What is not good is the organization. Once an organization is formed (a religion, a group like SC) the 'bad' starts to happen. It all comes down to power.

You are right that the major reason mainstream religions attack SC is to ensure they maintain their power base.

I attack SC for the same reason I attack all religious organizations; It is an organizations with a power structure and associated dogma to protect said power structure.

In order to grow spiritually one has to go it alone.

Who really has the power?

I don't think so. Most mainstream religions WARN their people (and anyone else who will listen) against involvement in any sort of cult. Irreligious people have concern for people drawn toward cults. Is it so far fetched to imagine people of religious faith may be motivated by that same human concern. Personally I don't believe my particular sect of Christianity even wields a "power base". Even Catholicism, which IMHO holds the most influence over their people, is still incapable of holding anyone against their will. People choose of their own free will who they will follow and how much sway they allow them to have, Now as a parent, I wield power. Even as a custodial caretaker of an aging parent, I would also wield power. But that is (hopefully) for the ultimate good of the one in my care.

I attack SC for the same reason I attack all religious organizations; It is an organizations with a power structure and associated dogma to protect said power structure.

Whether that's true or not, why attack? What good does that do besides polarizing your opponents? Warn others if you must, but attacking all religions because you view them as corrupt, evil and conspiratorial doesn't really make you any better than the dogmatic power structures you claim to attack.

In order to grow spiritually one has to go it alone.

You are entitled to your opinion, but if one tried to learn how to drive a car "going it alone" with no instruction whatsoever, wouldn't you imagine some measure of damage would be left in their wake? I do agree that we are individually accountable to man, God and our descendants. Part of that accountability is to be available to our children, grandchildren, Nephews, Nieces, neighborhood kids, what have you. Transmitting what we've found to be honest, just, loyal, lovely, truthful, etc. is, or at least should be, what we naturally want to pass on to those who follow behind us. I believe the Bible is a valuable resource for those things if one is sincerely inclined to seek. I don't think Jesus' solitary sojourns into the wilderness were intended as a mandate that man should be a spiritual island. But like I said, you are entitled to your belief. I just resent, as I'm sure you do, being told that my beliefs are wrong-headed or misguided and that someone else's way is the better. And really I don't object to people communicating what they believe to be true and useful in their experience. Even if I disagree, I take that warning, advice, or whatever, as a gesture of friendship and concern. The parts about anyone being wrong can be left unsaid. The friendly suggestion is more than enough.

Dear Amused,

Thank You, from someone who has been trying to get some kind (any) feedback from the Scientology side of this thing, believe me you can get plenty of Anti/Ex Scientology viewpoints/opinions even when you don’t want them.

Over the last few days I have been looking into this as much as I care to, and I have been finding the same few people on all the Anti/Ex Scientology sites. What I found myself is they reference each other over and over in a big circle! It seems to be this little bitty group of paranoids who yell and scream “people should look into Scientology and our accusations.” And when you do you find out they are silly. Then the fun begins, you get attacked as “being a Scientologist” or some kind of hidden operation to take “them” out.

So the explanation, which is the conclusion I had come to, of a handful of disgruntled people fit perfectly. (I would go as far as to say a handful of lunatics, but I've had to deal with them the last few days.)

I enjoyed reading about the good you see done daily but I would like to see something a little more solid. Do you have any reference material? Say doctors reports or news stories which I could access.

Thank You.

Obviously a Scientologist

..and either very ignorant and brainwashed, or deploying Scientology propaganda.

Thanks, but I don't believe you.

Working as a team, now?

Your pro-Scientology approach and disingenuous, false tone suggest a cult propagandist rather than a disinterested observer.

Looks like you've got a comrade to work with now, eh? Was that planned, or accidental?

Horus,

BOOOOOOOOOO!

Look out the Black Ops is in your closet...no I'm in your backyard....no I'm in your bathroom... I'm everyone and everywhere....BOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Don't come out of your basement or I'll GET YOU!

HA-HA

You're a troll
by Horus

...and no doubt either a Scientologist using approved Hubbardist methods to deride opponents, or an idiot pretending to be such.

Either way, you're an asshat. Get lost.

Hi Biglizard,

I'm sorry I took so long to answer. You must be very aware to have noticed that it is only a handful of people going round and round in circles with the same old fake news. To find out about the real Scientology, go to Scientology.com.

Thank you for your response.

Dear Amused,

Thank You,

However I really don’t think it takes an Einstein to figure out what is going on here. There seems to me to be a few ex-Scientologists who were outright criminals. They got caught and were booted out. Now these knot heads are apparently hell bet on interrupting any ACTUAL discussion of what Scientology is or isn’t by continual whining and attacking. (I can see why there are no actual Scientologists here!)

I am sure normal people can deduce this for themselves just by reading these threads.

I have also been to the Scientology website. Is there somewhere people can go to discuss ACTUAL Scientology doctrine and the actions of Scientologists TODAY. (As opposed to the 70’s and 80’s)

Don't Have a Dog in this Fight
by Thomas Paine

(bad metaphor in light of the Vicks case, I suppose)

...but, would it not be logical to assume that any organization's own web site will probably give the most positive spin possible to any potentially controversial or negative topics?

I wouldn't go only to the web site of one of the automakers to get the most candid view of claimed safety or reliability defects, or their alleged attempts to block legislation to curtail greenhouse emissions.

Of course, fairness might suggest that I not only look at sites of their opponents either. So yeah, a fair-minded enquirer into Scientology probably should look at the Church official site as part of that investigation, but should not assume that is the whole story.
