Our founder's did not give "flexibility" to the job of Vice President. The VP votes in the Senate if there's a tie. That's it.

Of course the real job is to be on hand to take over the presidency. As John Adams observed when he was VP: "I am nothing, but I could be everything."

Regardless of politics a VP needs to be able to run the country effectively if needed. Biden could do this. Palin could not.

It's not surprising that she demonstrated ignorance of the VP's responsibilities. Just a few weeks before McCain selected her, she admitted that didn't know what the VP does. She seems to know little or nothing about anything outside of Alaska.

It looks like we won't have to worry about Palin taking over for McCain as Obama is surging nearly everywhere <link>

Never underestimate the GOP's old reliable tactics -- stirring up hatred, bigotry, and ignorance. They're really going on the attack against Obama starting today...unfortunately there are people out there (like markfifteen) who will be stupid enough to believe everything they hear. Obama doesn't have it sewn up quite yet.

I'm not worried. They're not bringing up anything that hasn't been discredited long ago. Besides, the bigots aren't going to vote for a Democrat anyway.

Republican John McCain is calling Democratic rival Barack Obama a liar.

The GOP presidential candidate told a campaign rally: "Sen. Obama has accused me of opposing regulation to avert this crisis. I guess he believes if a lie is big enough and repeated often enough it will be believed."

It worked for the moron currently in the oval office...got him 4 more years...

So if everybody does it, that makes it ok.
