We Deserve Accountability

Howdy

We have our bailout, everyone, left, right and center are disgusted and angry at seeing a trillion dollars vanish.

Economic life support will succeed for fail, global markets will swing wildly on fear and loathing of financial insolvency, only time will tell if this disaster will be resolved as public funds pour into financial institutions.

Even as the emergency aid begins to mitigate the damage, questions regarding how this occurred, and how to prevent further corruption, are the subject of formal inquiry.

Congress is grilling Lehman execs over shoveling millions in bonus compensation to corporate fat cats even while their leadership led their firm into receivership. That is great news, greedy, unprincipled people reaped millions in rewards and left the American taxpayer grievously wounded.

Hopefully, congress will call to account the Bush Administration officials who were supposed to oversee Wall Street. An alphabet soup of administration oversight agendies fiddled while our economy burned.

News reports lead us to believe there will be scores of examples of Wall Street execs feasting on commissions and bonuses from a hot market in worthless mortgage backed investment instruments, so the congressional focus on these executives is correct and will hopefully produce indictments, convictions, and learning we can apply to regulatory reform.

But that is only half of the picture. Private companies and their executive leadership acted in concert with congressional regulators, the market for bundled sub prime mortgages was artificial, deliberately contrived, and driven into the private sector by fannie mae and freddie mac in cooperation with barney frank and his house committee.

The house democrats, led by barney frank, working together with the executive leadership of fannie mae and freddie mac, acted deliberately to create the subprime market in order to promote home ownership by low income families.

Nice idea, except of course, when the government intervenes to create a market for mortgages to folks who can not afford the payments, the result as a trillion dollar fraud on We The People.

Wall Street execs who made bank on these fraudulent instruments should pay a price.

But who will call to account the scoundrels, first and foremost barney frank, who deliberately contrived a trillion dollar ripoff program to boost low income home ownership? These clowns are in charge of congressional oversight, who is going to call congressional criminals to account?

If there is no accountability for the rat bastards in congress who made this mess, the damage will only broaden and deepen without bounds.

Already, the same corrupt politicians who deliberately conspired in this trillion dollar fraud are writing legislation to enable bankruptcy court judges to pay off mortgages for homeowners who are unable to service their payments.

Are we going to stand by and watch the same political vermin who deliberately stole a trillion dollars from taxpayers in a subsidized housing scam treat the crisis as an opportunity to add trillions more by having Uncle Sam buy homes for everyone who can't afford to buy a house?

Apparently so. There are no oversight investigations into congressional corruption in our financial crisis, and legislation to have the US taxpayer buy homes for everyone who can't buy a house on their own is taking shape as we speak.

Worse, the same people who led us to disaster in congress, and in freddie mac and fannie mae, are the same folks running the obama campaign.

Not only does the biggest fraud in history go uninvestigated and unpunished, the perps have an excellent chance of winning control of the entire US federal government and compound the fraud with unlimited further damage.

In summary.

Wall Street crooks cleaned house on bad paper, and investigations are ongoing.

Washington crooks who deliberately created a market for fraud are not only getting off scott free, they are still in charge, writing legislation to further damage the American economy.

These criminals run the obama campaign, and their plans are much bigger than a trillion dollar fraud, they aspire to force the American taxpayer to pay for mortages for everyone who doesn't bother to build an income to pay a mortgage.

And finally, with democrats sponsoring this entire scandal, the biggest theft in human history, and with the democratic candidate up ten points in polls as a result of public disgust over this mess, one wonders if the entire fiasco isn't as deliberate in its political impact as it is on our pocket books.

WHERE'S THE COPS?

Democrats WON by defrauding taxpayers to purchase homes for folks who can;t afford to pay a mortgage.

Democrats WON by forcing a federal bailout, transferring a broad swath of the housing market from the private sector to the public.

Democrats WON by contriving a financial crisis to help their presidential candidate.

And democrats propose, in an obama administration with a democrat house and a democrat senate, to further the damage our liberty by forcing us to pay off the principal of every fraudulent loan they made.

Why do we have to stand by and watch while fraud becomes the law of the land?

Where's the accountability?

Where's the justice?

And will we even know the truth if we hear it? I'm not sure what news agency's report I would trust to be objective in this. And I'm not sure what committee I'd trust to investigate the whole affair. Someone like Paulson who's made $500 million working at Goldman Sachs isn't exactly an objective party in my opinion. And of course we now know which democrats defended Fannie & Freddie so they certainly shouldn't be part of the solution.

This certainly has the potential to turn the tide in the coming election, depending on how the news cycle treats it. The next presidential debate should be interesting to say the least especially given the town hall format.

Except for one important point.... It was GWB's bailout... The policies of GWB & the GOP made it necessary.... It's the "Republicans" irresponsibility that nearly made it too late (If it wasn't when finally passed totally too late)....

WHO WERE THOSE 12 Republicans that got their "Feelings Hurt"??? (Mending Fractured Egos is of COURSE more important the doing what's right for the country & it's economy, right?)

If you'd like to blame someone, why don't you blame THEM for not giving the market CONFIDENCE when it was still STABLE until waiting for that "Slide of NO CONFIDENCE"???

You're still a Fascist...

Hey dipshit! This happened on Republican watch - just like the S&L debacle...Doesn't that jack-boot that little brain of yours?

I'm not whitewashing Republicans, I want them held to account, I said so, and I mean it, there is plenty of blame to go around.

Among Republicans, I charge incompetence, they were supposed to be watching out for us, and they presided over disaster, they should pay.

Of course, their time is short, in the case of the Bush Administration, they are all fired automatically in a couple of months. Sometimes justice is automatic, good riddance to the bums.

But what of congress?

Congressional leadership DELIBERATELY CONSTRUCTED this massive fraud, and nobody has JACK to say about calling barney frank, chris dodd, and their partners in fannie mae and freddie mac to account.

They advance a political agenda by defrauding the public to build an illegal federal housing program that nobody ever voted for, federalize the housing market, and swing a presidential election, and nobody has one word to say about making them answer for their crimes.

Its' an outrage.

What's funny is people who have the video right before their eyes of democrats in congress denying any sort of problem in the housing market and of republicans sounding the alarm, and even Bill Clinton himself placing blame squarely on the shoulders of democrats - even with all of that - it's still deny deny deny. Proof positive of partisanship over national interest.

"....swing a presidential election..." ??

McCain has a dozen Fannie/Freddie lobbyists working for him as campaign managers. They denied there was a problem years ago and got rich from lack of oversight. But they're trying to swing an election, too, right?

Re: We Deserve Accountability

We haven't had an accountablity in the White House since 2000, none in the Congress since 1996, and only by electing Obama do we have any hope of getting any now. Sarah Palin has already demonstrated her willingness to avoid full disclosure in her stonewalling the investigation that she says is much ado about nothing. If that's true, then she should release the records instead of pulling a "Cheney" and claiming executive privelege. Where are John McCain's military records? Is he ashamed of them, do they tell a different story than the one he has made up?

Elect obama, and the architects of this trillion dollar ripoff will be running the congress and the white house.

There is no accountability when the criminals are placed in charge of the police.

Sure thing! BLAME it ALL on Clinton!!!
by Qtec90

.... Golly Geee!!!.... Didn't see that one coming!

The CURRENT PROBLEM didn't start until the 1999 "Deregulation" backed by the good 'ol GOP!

McCain's SHOULD be running for the safety of his foxhole...

He KNOWS he' should get PASTED on "This One": The general co-chairman of John McCain’s presidential campaign, former Sen. Phil Gramm (R-Texas), led the charge in 1999 to repeal a Depression-era banking regulation law that contributed significantly to today’s economic turmoil.

.... DIVE DIVE DIVE!!! (...GQ Claxton’s blaring in the background)

I am blaming the Bush administration, and I am blaming the congress, and I am blaming wall street.

The Bush administration failed to prevent socialist income redistribution when congressional democrats legislated a trillion dollar fraud in partnership with Wall Street, primarily freddie mac and fannie mae, government sponsored fraud marketeers the Bush Administration allowed to steal a trillion dollars from you and me.

I am blaming greedy profiteers on Wall Street who pilliaged us with their commissions trading bad paper.

I am blaming, first and foremost, the democrats who deliberately perpetrated destruction on our free market.

The Bush administration is leaving in a few short months.

Wall Street is the subject of investigations by congress and the myriad regulating bodies like the SEC who failed to prevent this disaster, and who now are working to give us accountability on Wall Street.

But NOBODY is investigating, prosecuting, or even asking hard questions of barney frank, his committee, nancy pelosi, chris dodd or harry reid, even though these people are the principal bad actors, they deliberately wrought ruiin on the American people, and there is nothing anybody is doing to deliver them the just consequences of their morbid activity.

To the contrary, our corrupt media establishment is dedicated to absolving barney and friends of their guilt for the deliberate economic sabotage they perpetrated, and place the blame on Senator McCain, because they agree with the democrats that this trillion should just be a down payment on wholesale socialist destruction of American liberty, productivity, and prosperity.

It's an outrage.

Call your congressional delegation and DEMAND that the political leadership who perpetrated this crime be held to account.
