if I'm not mistaken, McCain was the senator who had a personal relationship with Keating thus making him dirtier than the others even though he managed to get a pass.

I'm surprised no one has brought up McCain's disinterest and actual obstruction in getting information from VN on POWs who might have been left behind. Or why he was so angry that he denigrated family members who only wanted some closure for their grief. <link>

in the nearly 1200 page report, there was evidence that some had been left behind but the senate committee investigatin--and that McCain was on--only released the summary which is all the general public was told.

there is a lot that can be questioned on both sides, but we have to look at what the person is now, not what they did 10 or 20 or 30 years ago. After all, I attended a conference where Father Daniel Berrigan, SJ., (of the Catonsville Nine) spoke. I even got to shake his hand and spoke with him at length. about 3 years later, I was reintroduced to him. and again we had a conversation. that was over 40 years ago, but he continues his radical activities and even spent time in prison. I guess i would be considered to be pals with a terrorist too. Hmmm. My kids would be surprised.

yes it does, and even more, it makes one wonder why he was so obsessed with keeping the information quiet.

And thanks for the kind words. We grannys can always use a few kudos :)
