SCIENTOLOGY SAVED MY DAUGHTER'S LIFE
by BobProctor
-1 Reply

First off, let me just say that I am a Catholic. Born Catholic, raised Catholic, practiced Catholicism till this day... and always will.

What I experienced 2 weeks ago has made me question (to a very great extent) why there is so much negativity surrounding Scientology. There is a great deal of negative publicity. Why? I now know the answer: it works. The fact that it works is very threatening to a powerful industry who makes its money from keeping people sick and selling them drugs. If I had not seen with my own two eyes what Scientology can do, I would be believing the negative propaganda.

My daughter, Melissa, is 15 years old. When she was 13, she was in a terrible car accident that killed everyone in the car (3 other girls and the father of one of the girls), except for her. For some unknown reason, Melissa was virtually physically unharmed but she was found in a coma at the site of the accident. My personal opinion is that God somehow protected her from physical harm and from seeing what happened to her friends.

Melissa remained in a coma for almost 2 years, until 2 weeks ago. Something happened two weeks ago but, before I tell you what, I want to tell you what happened during the two years she was in a coma. Following the accident, Melissa was taken to the hospital. Doctors determined that, physically, she was unharmed. They had no idea why she remained in a coma. Test after test revealed nothing. Medical doctors tried every drug in the book. Then they brought in a psychiatrist and she tried every drug in her book. No change. This psychiatrist brought in a team of psychiatrists and they increased the dosage. No change. $623,443, and almost two years later, I got a phone call from someone who heard about my daughter in a local newspaper. He said he was a Scientologist and he thought he could help Melissa. I was desperate. I wanted my daughter back and I didn't want to see her being a test monkey for the drug industry anymore.

The Scientologist explained to me a procedure that he wanted to do on Melissa. It was called an "assist". He said it would bring Melissa back to her body so she could start operating it again. I stayed in the room while he performed the assist. The procedure consisted of just a few simple things that he said to her, along with taking her hand and placing it on top of things such as her pillow. He said the procedure is very specific and ordinarily needs to be done several times for the person to be brought back to consciousness. But, after an hour and fifteen minutes, Melissa was awake. I couldn't believe it. It was truly a miracle.

I told the Scientologist that he was a Saint. His reply was "No, no, no, I'm not a Saint. Anyone can do this." He showed me a book called "Assists Processing Handbook" which lists over 100 procedures which handle all kinds of ailments--anything from the common cold to heart attacks, to broken bones and, yes... comas.

Although Melissa was now fully conscious, she was weak from being bed-ridden for 2 years. She remained in the hospital until she was strong enough.

The hospital's head psychiatrist visited Melissa the next day. He was shocked to see Melissa conscious. I explained to him what happened and how a Scientologist assisted her--in just over an hour. Do you know what his response was? Rage! He wasn't happy to see Melissa awake. He lost his cash-cow and test-monkey. And do you know what he and his "team" wanted to do? They wanted to keep giving her drugs. I had to stay in Melissa’s room for the next two days to make sure they didn't. I got Melissa out of the hospital as soon as I could.

I now know why Scientology receives such bad publicity. Because it works.

Because of Scientology, I have my daughter back. I’m not going to just believe whatever I’m told anymore. I want to see with my own eyes and THEN decide for myself.

You said that the Scientologist contacted you after reading about your daughter in a 'local paper'. Which paper was this and can you link the article, via a scan or their archives.

ive heard this story before..............

but last time i heard this sory on freedommag(scientology propaganda magazine) the person in question was a 13 year old BOY who had also been in, yes, a motorcycle accident........and had been miraciously saved by a scientologist doing an assist........

you would think that if scientologists were doing miraculous things like bringing people out of comas that the medical profession would be amazed and talk about it(but then it could be a big conspiracy by the nasty psych,s right?*sigh*)........funny i cant find any sources to prove the claims of scientologists bringing people out of comas(except on scientology websites) .........

also, if the story were true, it might just be coincidence that the person awoke at that time. or does this mean that scientology can perform miracles.........maybe help the blind see again!!

lets not forget that scientology hates psychiatry......

scientologists at 9/11 were disrupting mental health people from trying to help people in mental stress........

scientology didnt help lisa mcpherson did they........thats not propaganda.........

"Scientology is evil; its techniques are evil; its practice is a serious threat to the community, medically, morally, and socially; and its adherents are sadly deluded and often mentally ill... (Scientology is) the world's largest organization of unqualified persons engaged in the practice of dangerous techniques which masquerade as mental therapy."
--Justice Anderson, Supreme Court of Victoria, Australia

that statement from the judge is from the 80,s

if scientology worked, they would not receive bad publicity!!

i am not an expert on Scientology, though i was in the organization for a couple years MANY years ago, but i am under the impression that the 'touch assist' that you describe is a product of DIANETICS, Ron Hubbard's precursor to Scientology.

Dianetics now falls under the umbrella of Scientology, which entails an enormous amount of additional information that, as far as i can tell, has little or nothing to do with most of the principles discussed in Dianetics.

The fact that one procedure from Dianetics might work on an individual doesn't, by association, whitewash the rest of the crap that Scientology deals out. Just because some hair from the tip of a tiger's tail might have proved useful as a paint brush at one time doesn't necessarily mean that you might want to have the whole tiger in your art studio, now does it?

Secondly, one has to consider one of the first fallacies of logic. Remember high school logic class, everyone? POST HOC ERGO PROPTER HOC. Loosely translated, 'before, therefore because of.'

Just because something happened before another event doesn't mean that the first event is the causal event. The fact that the touch assist was performed for an hour and a half prior to the girl waking from the coma doesn't proove that the assist is what did the trick. People wake from comas all the time. One man recently woke from a 20-year coma. Was it because of the medications he received for those 20 years or because that day they fed him banana flavored formula through his feeding tube instead of chocolate? (taking some creative license here.)

Suspending logic for the moment, however, let us say that the touch assist IS what did the trick. I would congratulate Ron Hubbard for inventing an alternative medicine therapy. Is that religion? Hell no.

Documentation?
by Thomas Paine

Personally, I have very little interest in Scientology -- either in defending or attacking it.

However, I have to say that I regard claims such as these with a healthy dose of skepticism, whether they come from Christian Faith Healers, Sociologists or whatever. Somehow, those making these claims never seem to be able to come up with a scrap of evidence to back up the claims, and until I see some real evidence, I will continue to treat them as unadulterated horseshit.

Re: Documentation?
by Jasper Johnson

My own experience is that scientologists make claims with little or no evidence. It would be nice, if just once, one of their "scientific" claims were written up in a scientific journal and peer reviewed using a double blind experiment-- the same way the drugs that the psychiatrists used were tested.

Really, if an hour and a half of touching, and I was trained in the procedure myself, can replace $600,000 worth of drugs over the space of years, the world WILL STAND UP AND TAKE NOTICE. Everyone will become a Scientologist.

From what I have seen, touch assists do very little and there it is probably the placebo factor.

IF THIS CLAIMED MIRACLE FOR YOUR DAUGHTER HAPPENED, WHY DID YOU NOT POST ABOUT IT BEFORE......
by nathan

i noticed bobpractor that on the 01/08/07(3-4 days ago), you replied to a post on another thread here regarding scientology. in that post all you had to say was:::

"dude you need to see a shrink, what a psycho you are!"

no mention of this "claimed" miracle that your daughter was brought out of a coma by a scientologist.

you would think that with such a big thing in your life, your daughter being brought out of a coma by a scientologist only 2 weeks ago, after being in a coma for 2 years,.....3-4 days ago when you posted here you would have made this post then.....hhmmm? you wouldnt have just resorted to calling someone a psycho would you, you would be praising scientology, thanking them for bringing your daughter back.......

you can see this other post bobpractor made 3-4 days ago on fray, scientology, by clicking on bobpractors name in blue.........

scientology does not have a licence to practice medicine dont forget...........

lets not forget scientology,s absolute hatred of psychiatry...........quite convenient that a psychiatrist went "into a rage" when seeing a patient come out of a coma.....

and would bobpractor make the comment "dude you need to see a shrink", after he claims such terrible things against mental health care psychiatrists in the hospital, just 2 weeks ago, where he claims to have to have stayed 2 days in the room to protect his claimed daughter from alleged mental health care psychiatrists..........

"The government is satisfied that Scientology is socially harmful. It alienates members of families from each other and attributes squalid and disgraceful motives to all who oppose it; its authoritarian principles and practice are a potential menace to the personality and well being of those so deluded as to become followers; above all, ITS METHODS CAN BE A SERIOUS DANGER TO THE HEALTH OF THOSE WHO SUBMIT TO THEM... There is no power under existing law to prohibit the practice of Scientology; but the government has concluded that it is so objectionable that it would be right to take all steps within its power to curb its growth."

SCIENTOLOGY DID NOT SAVE LISA MCPHERSON

My personal opinion is that God somehow protected her from physical harm and from seeing what happened to her friends.

So I assume you are also of the personal opinion that God killed the father and the three other young girls for some peculiar reason known only to him?

LOVE Grandma Moses

No i do not support any institution for the answer is within us already...keep giving

Do you have a link to this story?
by Horus

Some kind of media coverage, or other supporting evidence?

If you're being completely honest then I apologize, but Scientologists are noted liars and propagandists, and often make up both positive accounts of their alleged 'treatments' and negative attacks on their critics.

Thanks...

I have seen this same story with minor changes, sex, age etc...posted over and over for about 10 years now......and everyone of them claim it happened to their child

Yes, because doctors often bring in teams of psychiatrists to deal with coma patients instead of say Neurologists....

Sometimes you just have to call "Shenanigans" and move on :)

Yeah, those murderous cults are full of 'love'
