There's an article in this month's issue of "Bitch" about how blog comment pages are basically a waste of time and energy. Bloggers are encouraged to post the most controversial thing possible because it generates hits, and it all just devolves in a bunch of yelling and not much discussion.

Mind you, I've enjoyed reading the Prudie page in months past and thought a lot of the regulars seemed like intelligient, civil people who made some good points most of the time (especially compared to the hot air you have to wade through on Salon.)

I was away for a while and just checked back today for a lark and it feels like things have taken an ugly turn. Maybe it's just me and maybe it's the subject matter this week--discussions of abortion bring out the worst in people, I guess.

Anyway, I don't know where I'm going with this comment, other than maybe convincing myself that reading the comments is a bad habit that I've wasted too much time with already. I'd better lay off now so I can get to bed.
