If Wells Fargo
by shazbot

If Wells Fargo can offer 15 billion for Wachovia ,in a deal that requires no government assistance and the fed balks at it, what is going on? Why would the fed insist Wachovia go to CITI for a whole lot less and with you paying for the deal?

Guess you gotta be a Bush backer to understand that kind of math.

I thought the fed was happier with WF deal because it was more complete than the CITI deal.......Within our govt and wall St. you've got players who are ideologically driven. They want to make a buck but at the same time preserve a flawed system that they benefit from.....Govt. money is always seen as there to be scammed.

The "free market preservation" shouters are the very ones who have benefitted in the last 8yrs:they want govt. to be there when they want to take us to war but they don't want their dealings to be srutinized.

Way I read it in my local paper the fed is saying that CITI had an exclusive deal.Free marketers as I see ir want everything their way. No liability just power. If you sell to the public you must be responsible to the public. If the public is your target then they are idiots to let you have free reign over them.

Sort of like the difference between laws and police that can stop theives and muggers versus no laws except the law of the street. The idea of self protection might appeal to gun loving fools but when the thief is not even in your town who you gonna kill?
