Setting Back Feminism Pt2

All of this talk about Palin ruining feminism reminded me of this quote from Maureen Dowd... her most astute observation ever:

Maureen Dowd in 2003, "Feminism died in 1998 when Hillary allowed henchlings and Democrats to demonize Monica as an unbalanced stalker, and when Gloria Steinem defended Mr. Clinton against Kathleen Willey and Paula Jones by saying he had merely made clumsy passes, then accepted rejection, so there was no sexual harassment involved."

That about sums it up for me.

Maureen Dowd has a huge girl crush on Hillary Clinton.

Hillary Clinton is a Giant.

RE: Palin.

It makes me sick that people think a feminist must be progressive. Palin is every bit a feminist.

I have renounced any affiliation with women's organizations that have been unkind to her because she is not pro-choice.

They are now just thinly veiled arms of the Democratic party which I belong to but feel are undermining the advancement of a woman that is not 100% like minded.

I think we need to draw a distinction here..

There is a HUGE difference in opposing the "advancement" of a woman as a politician if her political views differ radically from yours.

And opposing the advancement of a woman because she does not agree with you 100%...

As citizens we are supposed to vote for the candidate who best represents our views..regardless of gender.

Sarah Palin represents very few views usually held by democratic/liberal women.

So since she's trying to "advance" as a politician..people, male and female, who disagree with her should try to stop her advancement.

It's not a gender thing..she gets no free pass for being female. She certainly shouldn't get free sympathy or free votes either.
