Good for a laugh
by sonofeire

So, is this article something that Mr. Kaplan thinks passes as DETAILED analysis?

Pathetic.

By the way, I've met Joe Biden. I've talked with him. He really is a "snake in the grass". If I were Obama. I would not turn my back on him. What good is foreign policy "experience" if it only masks arrogance, condescension, lies, and bad judgement. Even if she does not yet have foreign policy experience, Sarah Palin did not get to where she is by being an illiterate. She has proven herself to be an astute and assertive woman. She WILL learn what she NEEDS to learn, and quickly.

You are not acknowledging that this is a debate. It really doesn't matter if Biden is a snake in the grass or a back stabber. His job here was to answer the questions and win the debate.
When you go for a brain surgery, do you want to have your head cracked opened by a most experienced surgeon with jack ass personality or a very friendly surgeon who just finished training without much experience.

The thing that the debate, plus all the other coverage, highlighted is that Palin lacks experience but more importantly lacks the intellect.

After all, experience has to be gained somehow and lack of it, whilst not a plus, should not be too much of a negative.

But only as long as it is clear that the person has the ability to learn and gain experience.

Palin has not demonstated this ability and whilst it may be too much to expect her to reel off solutions to foreign policy problems that hve stumped better minds that her, it is not unreasonable to expect her to be able to construct a sentence that doesn't leave you scratching your head, trying to understand just what the hell she meant.

BTW the full debate has been shown on British TV and the British media has followed Palin's progress very closely. (And probably so has everybody else around the world).

Her folksy charm may be an asset to winning the vote in middle America but it doesn't really do anything for us on this side of the pond. Although I am sure that it will give the comics plenty of material should McCain and Palin win.

In the aviation world...the most dangerous pilots are the new guys and the old guys. One lacks experience whilst the other has so much experience, they become complacent. So, relating this to the surgeon world....do you want the guy that wants to do a good job and may or may not make mistakes, or the guy that knows the job inside and out (therfore assuming that advice from anyone else to be easily discounted due to that lack of experience) that then doesn't take the advice of others and may or may not make a mistake? The chance for error is equal.
